my first Magnolia / mon premier Magnolia

I forgot the name of this little cutie pie, but here's my first card with a Magnolia stamp. Isn't she adorable? She's skipping rope, one of my favorite activities growing up.

J'ai oublié le nom de cette gamine, mais voici la première carte réalisée avec les estampes de la compagnie Magnolia. N'est-elle pas jolie? J'adore cette petite coquine. Elle joue à la corde à danser, un de mes passe-temps lorsqu'étais jeune fille.

I colored her in with Stampin' Up!'s Classic inks in Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss, Blush Blossom, Groovy Guava, Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip. I stamped with Black StazOn on watercolor paper and used my Aqua Painter. The beautiful background paper is the new Bella Rose from Stampin' Up! and the background textured cardstock is the new Kiwi Kiss. I hope you enjoy it! Après avoir estampé l'image avec de l'encre StazOn noir jais sur du papier aquarelle, j'ai colorié avec les encres de Stampin' Up! en Rouge Capulet, Petite pirouette, Bizou kiwi, Bouton de rose, Goyave parfaite, Presque cacao et Pépite de chocolat. Le papier en arrière-plan est le nouveau Bella Rose de Stampin' Up! et le carton texturé pour la base de la carte est de couleur Bizou kiwi. J'espère que aimez! I'm back and boy what a trip and half!!! First of all, I'd like to thank my friend and travelling companion Carolynn for putting up with me and my "slowness". It was hot down there and my big body could not match her walking speed. But she was a good sport about it. Lova ya, my SU daughter!

I am trying to upload pictures, but for some reason Blogger does not let me. You'll have to turn to my Typepad blog here to see some pictures. Hopefully, the problem gets resolved soon.

Let me tell ya: this is not the last SU convention I will attend.I am so amazed. The people are fun and friendly. The SU Home Office team are so pleasant to deal with. I am totally under their spell. Shelli is a wonderful human being and it shows. This morning, we were treated with a fun performance by the SU band before our morning session. AND... here is the most amazing news:

That's right! Stampin' Up! is partnering with Sizzix to bring you the Big Shot die-cutting tool with exclusive dies. We're all excited here and I can't wait to give you more details.

Shelli showed some beautiful projects that were made with the wonderful exclusive dies, like this one:

And last but not least, my SU daughter Carolynn has walked the stage because she has reached the 20K sales. Congrats, Carolynn!

Can't wait to be able to manipulate my photos properly so I can show you bits and pieces of the catalogue. OK, off to bed now. We have another long day tomorrow.

a warm hello from convention!!!

Woohoo! It's hot... it's fun.... and I'm lovin' it!!! Let's just say that I am amazed at how this convention is organized. We are 5700+ demos here in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah, gather for this amazing event. I am posting from my friend Carolynn's laptop so I apologize if the photos are not cropped properly or if my sentences are not so eloquent.

We went to the Momento Mall yesterday and guess who was at one of the cashier counter?!.... Yeah, none other than the infamous Kristina Werner. Here's my picture with her.

We are getting ready to go to the gala and there's still lots of to do and see. I just wanted to give you a little preview of the new products that are coming up in the new catalogue. I don't have a picture of the cover but I promise you that I will have it as soon as I return home.

Here are some of the rub-ons and new ribbons. The pictures are small but if you click on them, you'll get better definition.

Yep, in a few hours I will be Salt Lake City bound for Stampin' Up!'s Convention. I am excited and nervous all at once (hate flying but it's a necessary evil, blaarggggh!). I'm going to get the new catalogue so I will try to post from there but I can't promise anything. I will have lots and lots to talk about and show you when I come back. In the meatime, keep well my friends and I will talk to you next Monday!

P.S.: Look at the new papers, cardstock, color and stamp set in my banner... Woohoo!!!

Eh oui, dans quelques heures je serai en route pour Salt Lake City pour la Convention de Stampin' Up! Je suis à la fois excitée et nerveuse (je déteste prendre l'avion mais c'est nécessaire...). Je m'en vais chercher le nouveau catalogue alors j'essaierai de vous donnner des aperçus et nouvelles fraîches mais ne peux rien vous promettre. Tout dépendra de l'accès Internet à la chambre d'hôtel. J'aurai beaucoup à vous montrer et parler lorsque je reviendrai. En attendant, prenez soin de vous et on se reparle lundi prochain!

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much and I apologize for that. Time files and daily dramas are a-plenty. But I have some encouraging news from my brother. He had his 4th surgery yesterday and it went well. We are keeping a positive attitude that he recuperates well and quickly.

Je suis un peu sauvage ces derniers jours et je m'en excuse. Le temps file et les drames quotidiens s'accument (hahah), mais j'ai quand même de nouvelles encourageantes. Pour celles qui sont au courant des débats de santé de mon frère, il a subit une autre intervention chirurgicale (la 4e) hier et tout s'est bien déroulé. Nous gardons bon espoir que c'est la dernière intervention et qu'il pourra récupérer très rapidement.

Here's my dd Stuuph's first commissionned work! This is a drawing of my good friend Sharon's nephew who is turning 2 years old. I apologize for the slightly crooked picture.; it's the only one she took before she gave it away. She's so awesome. The entire drawing is done with lead pencil and the background is watercolored.

On a different note I have been tagged by two fellow bloggers: Maria and Anne. I've been asked to enumerate 7 unusual things about myself. Here's my attempt at it:

1) I can't go more than 2 weeks without eating potatoes. Love 'em! Any which way: fried, mashed, boiled, broiled, roasted. Love my taters.

2) I've been known to swear, a habit I am trying to break.

3) I once flew overnight to L.A. from Phoenix for a Jimmy Page/Black Crows concert. Left Phoenix at 4:00 p.m., attended the concert at 8:00 p.m. and flew back to Phoenix at 4:00 a.m. to give software training to 20 salespeople. Yeah.... totally worth it!

4) For a person that loves to be organized and clutter-free, I just spent the past 2 days taking everything out of the cupboards of my studio and getting every single bottles of Stickles, re-inkers, alcohol inks and other medium into spice racks ... It's right into the open, right in front of me. I came to the conclusion that "far from the eyes" is not a good thing for me. Now, I get the itch to try every little single bottle. We'll see how productive I get. Everything might go back into the cupboards at one point though, because it's not too pleasing to my eyes... too cluttered! That's just the way I am!

5) OK, let's see... latest crushes? -- Nico Rosberg (F1 driver), Chad Kroeger (Nickelback-- love the raspy voice), Dante (hero of vampire book I am reading, heheh)... can't think of anyone else that's worthy of my female adoration for now. Sad...

6) I am afraid of using "messy" mediums like Gesso, paints, glitter. So I push myself all the time. Today I used BLACK GESSO (woohoo! SophieThé: are you readin this? are you impressed?)

7) Too lazy to turn around and choose 7 other "taggees" cuz I'm out of juice. I had just a few hours of sleep last night. But it was fun to play

Voici le dernier dessin de ma chère fille Stuuph. Son premier dessin payant! Elle l'a fait pour mon amie Sharon. C'est un dessin de son neveu qui a eu 2 ans. Il est fait au crayon à la mine et le fond est peint à l'aquarelle. Géniale, cette petite!

Je me suis fait taggée deux fois la semaine dernière, par Maria et Anne. Je dois révéler un peu de mon moi-même en énumérant 7 énoncés. Les voici:

1) Je ne peux passer plus que 2 semaines sans manger des pommes de terre. Je les adore, sous toutes leurs formes: frites, pilées, rôties, bouillies. Cé bon, des "pétaks"!

2) Il m'arrive de profaner. Un défaut que je tente de corriger.

3) Je me suis déjà envolée de Phoenix à Los Angeles pour assister à un concert de Jimmy Page avec les Black Crows. Je suis partie de Phoenix à 5:00 p.m. pour assister au spectacle à 8:00 p.m. pour enfin revenir à 4:00 a.m. afin de résumer ma session de formation auprès de 20 représentants des ventes. Hmmm, ça valait vraiment le coup!

4) Je suis une personne qui déteste les traineries et aime être organisée. Cependant, je viens de passer les 2 dernières journées à sortir tous les petits contenants de Stickles, encres à alcool, ré-encreurs, etc., pour les mettre dans 3 racks à épices.... bien à la vue de tous, juste en face de ma surface de travail. L'expression "loin des yeux, loin du coeur" s'applique et je pense que cela me poussera à utiliser mon matériel plus souvent. On verra combien de temps il en faudra avant que je change d'idées et que je retourne tout ce fouillis dans mes armoires! J'essaierai de prendre des photos avant!

5) Mes idoles masculines du mois. Voyons... Nico Rosberg (pilote F1), Chad Kroeger (de Nickelback - j'adore les grains de sable qui roulent dans sa voie), Dante (le héros-vampire de mon roman de l'heure)... une liste bien courte.

6) Je déteste me salir les doigts lorsque je manipule des médiums tels que Gesso, pâte à papier, peintures, etc. C'est pourquoi je viens d'étaler du GESSO NOIR sur une de mes pages de mon journal (SophieThé: tu me lis-tu? Es-tu impressionnéé?!)

7) Je suis trop paresseuse pour trouver 7 autres personnes à tagger. La nuit a été courte. Alors je vous quitte sur ce!

I'm back from Toronto and it's good to be home! I just wanted to show you the card I made for my husband's niece for her wedding on Sunday. Since I wanted to match her colors, I went for the Green Moss cardstock and Swiss dot satin ribbon from Papertrey Ink.

Nous sommes revenus de Toronto et il fait bon d'être chez-soi! J'aimerais vous montrer la carte de mariage que j'ai faite pour la nièce de mon mari. Puisque je tenais à agencer les couleurs avec celles que Sarah a utilisé pour ses décorations et invitation, j'ai dû me pencher vers Papertrey Ink (le carton et le ruban).

CCC #9 show & tell / CCC #9 en montre

I cheated :-D Instead of making 1 card, I made 4 little ones. It was a lot of fun to do. The only problem I had was finding ribbons that matched Taken with Teal and Cool Caribbean. Because they are non-existent in the small grosgrain, I decided to dye my own. The colors are way too flashy, even after I tried to take off some of the dye by running them between two sheets of absorbent tissue. Futhermore, if you decide to dye your own ribbon, please make sure that it is dry before using... I learned the hard way.

J'ai triché :-D Au lieu de faire 1 projet, j'en ai fait 4 petits. Je me suis amusée. Par contre, j'ai eu un problème lorsqu'est venu le temps de choisir les rubans. Les couleurs Sarcelle et Bleu des Carraïbes n'existent pas en grosgrain alors j'ai opté pour la teinture du grosgrain blanc. Les couleurs sont un peu vive même après avoir asséché les rubans en les pinçant entre deux papiers absorbants. L'effet est tout de même pas mal. De plus, n'oubliez pas d'allouer un temps de séchage convenable avant de vous servir de vos rubans teints... je me suis fait avoir!

Before I post the CCC#9 Show & Tell, I have share with you a video my dd Stuuph made of herself drawing a birthday present for her friend, Gabe. One word of caution: you might want to mute the sound because she's dubbed the video with "Screamo" music. For those of you unfamiliar with the genre... give it a try. Your life will never be the same, mwah-ha-hah! She's sorry about that; apparently, that was the only song she was able to download from her iTunes.

Avant de vous montrer le défi CCC#9, j'aimerais partager avec vous le petit clip que ma fille a préparé lorsqu'elle a réalisé un dessin pour son ami, Gabe. Une petite mise en garde: mettez le son en sourdine puisqu'elle a choisi un musique du genre "Screamo". Celles qui ne sont pas familières avec ce genre, préparez-vous! Elle s'en excuse, mais pour une raison qu'elle ignore c'est la seule chanson qu'elle a réussiée à importer de son iTunes.

Here's the inspiration for this week's challenge. The image comes to us via Anna Maria's Store. I discovered this website through my friend Kathy V. (thanks, babe!). Anna Maria Horner creates beautiful colored fabrics and wares. I wish the new Stampin' Up! colors were already available as the new Kiwi Kiss would be perfect for this challenge... that's why I've used two kinds of green. The colors are: Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Taken with Teal, Cool Caribbean. I realize that Cool Caribbean is a color from last year; Soft Sky would work well too. And as usual, the SU colors are given as a guide only. Feel free to match the colors with whatever you have! Create a card/project with these colors, post a comment to this message with a direct link to your post (and not your main blog). You have until Saturday night. Voici l'inspiration pour le défi-couleurs de cette semaine. L'image nous parvient du magasin virtuel d'Anna Maria. Mon amie Kathy V. m'a fait découvrir cette talentueuse artiste du monde du textile. Que de belles couleurs!!! C'est dommage que les nouvelles couleurs 08-09 de Stampin' Up! ne soient pas disponibles puisque le "Bizou kiwi" serait parfait pour ce défi. C'est pourquoi j'ai incorporé deux sortes de vert. Les couleurs sont: Certainement céleri, Vert olive, Très vanille, Sarcelle, Bleu des Carraïbes. Je suis consciente que le Bleu des Carraïbes est une ancienne couleur; elle peut être facilement substituée par le Doux ciel. Les couleurs SU sont offertes comme point de référence seulement -- libre à vous de substituer avec vos couleurs équivalentes. Créez une carte/projet en vous inspirant de ces couleurs et ajoutez un commentaire à ce message en indiquant le lien direct de votre message (et non pas le lien d'acceuil de votre blog). get well, brother of mine / prompt rétablissement cher frère

I have a bit of sad news to share with you. My dear brother is back in the hospital for at least 6 weeks. A nasty rare bacteria got into his whole body while they did brain surgery on him back in February. As a result, they had to take the 2nd shunt they had put in. So, he's back with severe headaches and dizziness. I feel so bad for him; it seems there is not end to his suffering and I wish I could take the pain away from him. But he was in good spirits this afternoon. I brought him a card and the little frog made him smile. Get well soon, dear brother of mine. I love you XXX

J'ai de mauvaises nouvelles à partager avec vous. Mon cher frère est de retour à l'hôpital pour un très long séjour d'au moins 6 semaines. Lors de sa première opération au cerveau, il a contracté une bactérie rare qui a nécessité le retrait de sa 2ième déviation. Le résultat: des maux de tête hyper-sévères et des étourdissements. Je me sens tellement impuissante et j'aimerais pouvoir lui enlever son mal. Mais il était de bonne humeur cet après-midi. Je lui remis cette carte et la petite grenouille l'a fait sourire. Une bien petite consolation... Remets-toi vite, mon frère adoré. Je t'aime XXX

In answer to my color challenge, I thought I'd make a masculine birthday card. I thought the colors would fit well with the theme. I'm always stomped when it comes to make a card for a man. I still had fun coloring the little image from a stamp that I got from Michael's in Ottawa for 1.50$!

Voici la carte que je vous ai préparé pour répondre à mon défi-couleurs. J'ai pensé que les couleurs se prêtaient bien à une carte de fête masculine (c'est toujours embêtant de faire quelque chose pour un homme). J'ai pris plaisir à colorier le petit gâteau et je perfectionne mon coloriage avec le crayon-estompe (merci Gen!). L'image vient d'une estampe que j'ai acheté pour 1,50$ chez Michael's à Ottawa!

KWCI #12 - Défi-couleur de K. Werner #12

Here's the card that I made for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #12. The colors to be used are Sahara Sand, Whisper White, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi. The background stamp is the Design Block Stencil from Hero Arts that I couldn't wait to try. I stamped with VersaMark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. The flower is a rub-on from Stampin' Up! on Sahara Sand and then punched out with the Scalloped Circle punch. The saying is also a rub-on and the ribbon is the striped gros-grain in Wild Wasabi, also from SU. Hope you enjoy!

J'ai crée cette carte pour le défi inspiration de couleurs #12 de Kristina Werner. L'estampe de fonds vient de Hero Arts que j'ai gaufré avec de l'encre VersaMark et de la poudre transparente. La fleur au milieu est une décalque de Stampin' Up! que j'ai par la suite poinçonnée avec le poinçon pétoncle. Le sentiment vient également d'une décalque de SU et le ruban est un gros-grain à rayures en Allégresse wasabi. Passez une belle fin de semaine!

Sometimes the simplest things are more appreciated. Here's a card I put together for DH in 15 minutes (because I was too busy running around getting him all the treats for the day :-)) He liked it! The flower around the golf ball is from the Home Again Simply Scrappin' kit. I punched a whole in the middle and added Stampin' Dimensionals for depth. The Stamp is from the dollar bin at Michaels... well the 1.50$ bin here in Canada. The sentiment is from the Say It In Style set from Close To My Heart (because a little competition is healthy!). The Ribbon is a Chocolate Chip 5/8" gros-grain and the cardstock underneath is Old Olive, which I have punched with the slit punch. The card base is River Rock textured cardstock from the SS kit. Easy-peasy!

La simplicité a bien meilleur goût, que l'on dit. Mon mari a vraiment apprécié cette carte qui m'a pris 15 minutes à confectionner. Avec la trousse Retrouvailles, c'est possible! La fleur vient de cette trousse. J'ai tout simplement poinçonner un cercle au milieu et ai adhéré le tout avec des Stampin' Dimensionals. L'image de la balle de golf vient de chez Michaels (1.50$) et le sentiment est de Close to My Heart (y'a pas de gêne à la compétition). Le ruban gros-grain de 5/8" en Pépite de chocolat vient ajouter une touche masculine. Les cartons sont Roche fluviale et Vert olive (qui est festonné à l'aide du poinçon Fente. Très facile!

My friend Carol gave me a new website to peruse. This photo was taken from Restoration Hardware. I love the subtle colors and I think they are totally perfect for a Father's Day card, dontcha think?! SO, not only am I challenging you with the colors BUT... the card has to be for Dad. The Stampin' Up! colors are: Really Rust, So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Shara Sand and True Thyme. Please note that the retired color True Thyme can be substituted for another greenish color, like Always Artichoke for example. And once again, the Stampin' Up! colors are supplied to you as a guide. You can use any other manufacturer.

Alors, non seulement je vous défie avec les couleurs mais... vous devez également faire une carte adressée aux papas! Les couleurs Stampin' Up! sont: Réellement rouille, Tellement safran, Très vanille, Désert du Sahara et Thym Réel. À noter que la couleur périmée Thym Réel peut être substituée par une autre couleur, telle que Artichaut toujours.

I admit it: I'm a Formula 1 Race fanatic! And today, I got to spend a big part of the day at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve where the Canada Grand Prix is being held this weekend. Courtesy of Bridgestone tires, I was able to get up close and personal with some of the racers. For those of you who are interested, please take a look at these pictures. I'm quite proud of them!

Long overdue, but here it is. My card for my Color Challenge #6. Not happy with it at all. It was a long process that could have been so simple but I didn't want to let go for some reason. I started out with this beautiful stamp by Outines Rubber Stamp Co. on a transparency sheet. I got it inked with VersaMark, then heat embossed with Detail White Embossing Powder (SU). I chose to color the star with the Glaze pens by Sakura. It was hard to find the right color.

J'en ai mis du temps à vous soumettre ma carte pour le défi-couleurs #6. En réalité, une carte qui devait être toute simple s'est avérée très compliquée. Et j'ai bien faillie abandonné plusieurs fois. Mais il fallait à tout prix la terminer. L'estampe est de Outlines Rubber Stamp Co. Avec de la VersaMark, j'ai étampé l'image puis gaufré à la chaleur avec de la poudre pour gaufrage blanche (SU). Par la suite, je me suis battue avec mes crayons-gel Glaze de Sakura. Il fallait jouer avec les couleurs qui sont si peu nombreuses pour trouver la bonne. De là la lenteur.

I tried a whole bunch of combinations since the colors were not really matching my challenge. The lighter green was obtained by mixing a yellow with a green Glaze pen. The little dots of glitter within the star were made using the white transparent Glaze pen with some Brownstone Glitter (Martha Stewart). Love them! Then I made a big booboo by cutting out the star only to realize that I had to way to anchor it. So I fiddled with the frame and used Doodlebug's gems to hide the Crystal Effects (SU) I used as adhesive. The cardstocks are Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery and Whisper White (all by SU). The chocolate chip part is a piece of scrap that I had previously embossed with the Spots & Dots embossing folder (Cuttlebug). Oh, and the little green frame was embossed with the Scor-Pal and then inked in Chocolate chip ink. Although I quite like the reflection of the star on the inside of the card, it is not my favorite. Nevertheless, I wanted closure (hehe). Have a great evening!

black & white elegance / élégance en noir et blanc

Woohoo! My computer is fixed. I took it to MycroBytes (which I highly recommend) and they took care of the problem in an efficient and quick manner. And for some reason the little bugger runs faster. A word of advice to all Windows users: Beware of Service Pack 3. It corrupted my registry, even though it was downloaded and installed through Microsoft server. Anyways, I'm quite happy to be back to normal again.

Youpi, mon ordi est guéri! Je l'ai amené chez MicroBytes (que je recommande) et ils ont vite réparé les bavures de Microsoft. Et pour une raison que j'ignore, mon ordi est beaucoup plus rapide. Ils ont dû nettoyé le "registry". Un petit conseil à toutes les utilisatrices de Windows: méfiez-vous de Windows Service Pack 3. Cette installation a corrompu mon registre même si j'ai fait le tout par l'entremise du serveur de Microsoft. En tout cas, je suis très heureuse que tout soit rentré dans l'ordre.

As promised, here are the 2 cards we did at Bonnidée last Saturday. The photos are not the best but you still get the idea. Those 3-D paper flowers were assembled using punched shapes and manipulated with a stylus and a bone folder. Lots of fun! The shapes used were, believe it or not, a balloon, a snowflake and a sun. I know I will have lots more fun making all kinds of different flowers with my punches. Stamps used for both cards are from Hero Arts. Love the bird!!!

Tel que promis, voici les cartes que nous avons fait chez Bonnidée, samedi dernier. Les photos ne sont pas extras, mais cela donne une bonne idée (jeu de mots) de la technique des fleurs en papier 3-D. J'ai adoré faire ces 2 projets et je sais que je vais faire des tas d'autres fleurs bientôt. Il n'y a pas de limite à ce qu'on peut faire avec des formes poinçonnées... On a utilisé des poinçons flocons de neige, ballons (eh oui) et soleil. Génial! Les estampes utilisées pour les deux cartes sont de Hero Arts. Je capote sur le "wèzo" et son panache!

This card houses a bookmark in the front pocket. It's full of bling but unfortunately you can't see it on the photo. All the images were stamped in Versamark and embossed with White Diamond powder. The stamped butterfly is embossed with white powder.

Cette carte a une pochette à l'avant pour accueillir un signet. Il y a plein de brillants sur cette carte mais malheureusement la photo est pourrie. Les images sont estampées en Versamark pour ensuite être gaufrées avec de la poudre Diamant blanc. Le papillon est gaufré avec de la poudre blanche.

simple cards for CPS#65 / cartes simples pour le CPS #65

I had a wonderful day today: I went to a workshop at Bonnidée's with my friends SophieThé and Angèle where I learned how to make 3-D flowers and browsed in the store and bought way too many stamps and magazines. It was such a beautiful day wheatherwise. For dinner, we had Teriyaki Pork Chops on the BBQ with rice and grilled asparagus. For desert, we walked to DairyQueen where I indulged in a nice Turtles Waffle Cup. Yummmmmmm! Still on my uncluttering kick, I made these two cards using the CPS #65 sketches. These sketches are great for people like me who cannot focus on a design when super busy. I wanted a soft look and I also wanted to crack open my Papertrey Ink's ribbons.

Quelle journée fantastique aujourd'hui: j'ai assisté à un atelier chez Bonnidée avec mes amies SophieThé et Angèle au cours duquel j'ai appris à faire des fleurs en 3-D. J'ai même pris le temps de furreter dans le magasin et acheter beaucoup trop d'estampes et de revues. Pour souper, des côtelettes de porc grillées sur le barbeque avec riz et asperges grillées. Comme dessert, nous avons marché jusqu'au Dairy Queen où je me suis régalée d'une coupe gaufre Turtles. Miammmmmmm! Toujours sur ma frippe d'épuration, j'ai fait deux cartes en m'aidant du schéma #65 de CPS. Je voulais un look très doux alors j'ai finalement mis un coup de ciseaux dans mes bobines de rubans "Sweet Blush" de Papertrey Ink.

My new mission in my creative life: de-cluttering... I've been a hoarder of all things pertaining to papercrafting. I've accumulated so much over the years (used to work at a LSS also!). So the other day, I was looking for a circle template and I happen to stumble unto this Sweetwater Dodle Disks kit which contain 4 chipboard circle buttons, reusable doddling templates and twill ribbon.

J'ai une nouvelle mission créative: épurer mes fournitures... Au fil des années, j'ai accumulé énormément de fournitures pour tout ce qui a trait à l'artisanat (j'ai même travaillé dans une boutique de scrap alors on peut juste imaginer l'ampleur de mon inventaire!). En cherchant pour un gabarit de cercle, j'ai mis la main sur un petit kit de Sweetwater qui contient 4 boutons ronds en carton agloméré, des gabarits de "doodling" ré-utilisables et du ruban croisé imprimé.

I wanted to keep things simple, using as little supplies as possible. And here's what I came up with. They are 4 X 4 cards and the only thing added to what was contained in the kit is a bit of cardstock, Stampin' Dimensionals and some permanent marker doodling. I even used last year's SU In Colors: Cool Caribbean, Cranberry Crisp, Marigold Morning and True Thyme.

Le but était de garder les choses simples et d'utiliser le moins d'effectifs possibles. Et voici ce que cela a donné. J'ai réussi à faire 3 petites cartes de 4" X 4" en utilisant tout ce que contient la trousse, en ajoutant que du carton, des Stampin' Dimensionals et du doodling avec un marqueur insoluble. J'ai même utilisé les En Couleurs de Stampin' Up! de l'année dernière: bleu des caraïbes, croquant aux canneberges, souci matinal et thyme réel.

Mission accomplie!!!

I was coming back from a long weekend and the week was hellish. So, without further ado, here's this week's CC. The inspiration is coming from Pottery Barn. CPS Sketch #64

What a beautiful sunny day it is today! I hope everyone is taking advantage of the long weekend to do some yard work or go for a bike ride. Me? I'm sitting at my computer uploading these photos and getting frustrated with my Studio-in-a-box. Oh well! Can't have it all! I got so frustrated that I had to go outside to take my pictures today.

Quelle belle journée ensoleillée! J'espère que vous profitez de ce beau temps pour faire du jardinage ou pour une belle balade en vélo avec la famille. Moi? Je suis assise à mon ordi, essayant de corriger des photos pourries qui ont été prises dans ma boîte Studio... Tellement frustrée que j'ai dû aller dehors pour prendre des photos potables.

Here's the last card I made last night. Well... this morning as it was 3:00 a.m. (hehe). I used the CPS Sketch #64. It's a tri-fold format. These flowers were stamped a while back on 140lbs watercolor paper and I colored them with Stampin' Write markets and an Aqua Painter. I must say though that I much prefer the 90lbs watercolor paper for this type of work as I find it absorbs the water much quicker, therefore minimizing the effect of bleeding unto other colors. The gingham paper is something I bought a long time ago at Costco. Below, you'll find the complete recipe.

Voici ma toute dernière carte que j'ai confectionnée hier soir...hmmm... ce matin à 3:00 a.m. (hihihi) avec le schéma de CPS #64. C'est un format en 3 panneaux. Les fleurs ont été coloriées avec les marqueurs Stampin' Write de SU et un Aqua Painter sur du papier aquarelle 140lbs. Je préfère le 90lbs pour ce genre de travail mais j'avais ces images déjà estampées avec de la StazOn noir jais. Pas de gaspillage! J'ai même pris du papier carrellé que j'ai acheté chez Costco depuis quelques années déjà. Ci-bas vous trouverez la recette.

Last night, I wanted to use up some more leftovers and I succeeded. Those butterflies and hearts (leaves) were leftovers from previous projects. The card was put together in no time!

Hier soir, j'avais en tête d'utiliser des restants de projet. Et j'y suis parvenue! Les papillons et les coeurs proviennent de projets antérieurs. Je range mes formes poinçonnées dans des petits sacs en plastique, par thème. Ce projet a pris peu de temps à réaliser!

I hope all the mothers had a wonderful day yesterday. When I came back from Burlington, I was treated to a complete set of clean windows (we have lots!), a gorgeous card from my dd and a beautiful BBQ dinner prepared by my dh and dd. So nice! Since I was away, I didn't have time to make anything. So I decided to show you what my dear friend Annie gave me when she came to my house the other night for a team meeting. She is a wonderful person and is genuinely nice.

J'espère que toutes les mamans ont passé une agréable journée hier. Quant à moi, on m'a offerte un lavage complet des fenêtres de la maison à mon retour de ma fin de semaine à Burlington. Woohoo!!! Courtoisie de mon cher mari. Ma fille m'a fait une superbe carte et ensemble ils ont préparé un copieux repas sur le barbeque. Puisque j'étais à l'extérieur, je n'ai pas de nouveaux projets à vous montrer. J'ai donc décidé de vous montrer des photos de ce que ma copine Annie m'a offert lorsqu'elle est venue chez-moi l'autre soir pour une réunion d'équipe. Annie est une personne fantastique qui a bon coeur et est toujours plein de gentillesse et de compréhension. C'est naturel chez-elle!

A beautiful African violet plant in a white ceramics pot that she decored herself with rub-ons, punched shapes, bling and patterned paper. How wonderful!

Une superbe violette africaine dans un petit pot de grès blanc, décoré avec des décalques, des formes poinçonnées, des brillants et du papier à motifs. Que c'est magnifique!

A wonderful card that she made. I looooooove the colors. And, everything was made to match my workshop. How toughtful! The other gift next to the card is something so fun. It's a flower on a rope, made out of special wood. The rope hangs down into the pot filled with a scent.

Elle m'a offert une belle carte qu'elle a confectionnée. J'adore les couleurs! Ce sont les couleurs de mon ateliers. Elle a vraiment pensé à tout! L'autre cadeau près de la carte est quelque chose de tellement ingénieux. C'est une fleur faite d'un bois spécial qui est reliée à une corde. On laisse pendre la corde dans la bouteille qui contient un liquide odorant.

When you first put the flower in the container, it is completely white...

Avant de la mettre dans le pot, la fleur est complètement blanche...

Then, gradually, the flower starts to absorb the liquid coming up the rope. It colors the flower and scents it at the same time. It think it's such an original gift! Oh, I forgot. She also gave me a back scratcher. Loooooooove it!!! Thank you, Annie. Luv ya!

Et voici ce qui arrive lorsque le liquide monte par la corde à la fleur. Elle se colore et devient odorante. N'est-ce-pas original?! Ah oui, j'oubliais. Elle m'a également offerte un grattoir pour le dos. J'aime beaucoup, beaucoup!!! Merci, ma belle Annie. Je t'adore.

What a hectic week, my friends! Workshops, and meetings, and restaurant dates! Tomorrow, I am heading out to Burlington for a "hens weekend" of shopping. Woohoo! It's our Mother's Day treat and we expect our husbands to cook for us on Sunday night, upon our return. What a treat! I wanted to get some stuff organized before I leave, that's why I am posting this a little later than announced. So... here is my card (click here for the recipe) using the colors from CCC #4 and the sketch from CPS #63:

Quelle semaine! Ce fut une avalanche d'ateliers, de rencontres, de lunchs au resto. Je pars pour une fin de semaine de magasinage à Burlington demain matin avec les filles. I played with my Simply Scrappin' kits again! Loooooooooove them lots!!! I put together a scrapbooking workshop last week and couldn't wait to use the leftovers to make cards. La semaine dernière, j'ai donné un atelier de collimage utilisant les trousses pour bébés et j'avais tellement de m'amuser avec les restes. If you've been following this blog you'll remember a few pictures I've posted of my daughter's drawings. And even though just about everyone tells her she has talent, she's not convinced. I'm hoping this evening helped her recognize her potential. Every year, her school's Foundation buys a piece of art from one of the finishing students. And this year, they bought my daughter's! Not only did I witness my shy little sweetie emcee the Gala des Mérites-Arts but she was the star of the show... or shoud I say THIS...

... was the star of the show.

Si vous êtes une habituée de mon blogue, vous vous souviendrez de quelques photos des dessins de ma fille. Et même si tout le monde la complimente, elle n'est toujours pas convaincue de son talent. J'espère que la soirée d'aujourd'hui l'aidera à réaliser à quel point elle est créative. Chaque année, la Fondation de son collège achète une oeuvre d'art d'un élève finissant. Cette année? L'oeuvre de ma fille! Tout un honneur. Ces oeuvres sont affichées en permanence dans les corridors administratifs du collège.

During the whole evening, her artwork remained veiled on an easel, center-stage. The 2 arts teachers of the school did the unveiling:

Son oeuvre était placé au milieu du plateau tout au long de la Soirée des Mérites-Arts, qui était animé en partie par Stuuph, avec 3 autres étudiants. Le fait qu'elle ait accomplit cette tâche n'est peu dire; elle a une peur bleue de s'exprimer devant les foules. Cette soirée s'adressait à tous les élèves et parents. Bravo, ma chouette. Tu t'en es sortie avec bravoure! À la fin de la soirée, sa pièce fut dévoilée au grand plaisir de la foule.

I snapped a few pictures, but my daughter is not the one to snap straight-faced portraits. Here she is with the school's principal and arts teacher:

Ma fille a absolument horreur de la caméra lorsqu'elle se tourne vers elle et ne peut contenir son sérieux. Je l'adore! La voici en compagnie du Directeur de l'école et de son professeur d'arts. Les 4 animateurs de la soirée devaient porter un sarreau taché de peinture (et je suis convaincu que c'est le sien!). C'était vraiment original.

What a goofball! I love her!!! All 4 emcees had to wear those paint-splattered frocks over their school uniform. It was cute! She did an awesome job emcee-ing and I am so proud of her. It took a lot of guts on her part; she's terrified to speak in front of crowds. This was in front of all the students and parents... . Good job, Stuuph. I love you.

Here's the artwork. Each portrait is a friend of hers and they are so accurate! You can tell who is who!

Et le chef d'oeuvre.... La photo ne lui rend vraiment pas justice. Chaque personnage représente un/une ami(e). Les portraits sont tellement réalistes qu'on reconnaît la vraie personne. Quel beau moment!

It's show & Tell time, friends! Below is my answer to the CCC#3. I apologize for the lateness... I've got more problems with my computer. It shuts down by itself and that is not a good sign. Arrrrrrgh! Anyways, I have to admit that I have struggled with this one. Bold and Bright color palette is not my favorite but it's good to get out of your comfort zone.

C'est l'heure de vous montrer les défis couleurs qui m'ont été envoyés! Je m'excuse du retard à afficher mais j'ai encore des problèmes d'ordi... J'ai eu du fil à retorde avec ces couleurs, mais c'est quand même bien de sortir de sa zone de comfort de temps en temps.

As I have said in the past, I love using ready-made sketches for inspiration. Card Positioning System is fantastic. Every Sunday, there's a new one to inspire. This is one of my answer to CPS62. And I have to admit, I totally pleased myself with this one. I wanted something fun and busy! There are some days like that :-)

Comme je l'ai souvent mentionné par le passé, j'adore les schémas de cartes "prêts à utiliser" pour me donner de l'inspiration. Le blog Card Positioning System est un de mes préférés. Chaque dimanche, il y en a un nouveau. Voici une de mes cartes que j'ai fait avec le schéma 62 (CPS62). Et j'avoue que je me suis vraiment fait plaisir avec cette carte. I have moved my Color Challenge day to every Monday. Trying something new; no harm in that. This week's inspiration is from a beautiful beadspread from Simons. Love the freshness of it. Please keep in mind that the White is more evident than the other colors. If you don't have the exact Stampin' Up! color, please by all means use an equivalent. J'ai changé la journée de mon défi couleur pour le lundi. Après tout, il n'y a que les fous qui ne changent pas d'idée! L'inspiration de cette semaine est un édredon de Simons. À mes yeux, ça me dit "été". N'oubliez pas que le blanc est dominant dans cette photo; les autres couleurs accentuent. Ce défi n'est pas exclusif aux couleurs de Stampin' Up!; libre à vous d'utiliser une couleur équivalente. another flowery thank you... a la française!

So I am getting a slow start this morning. My son was playing in a bar last night for a benefit concert and Old Mama came back a little later than anticipated. But I managed to whip up a little card with yesterday's leftover flowers and the cut pieces of the Carouse Note I used in this card. Here's what I came up with. Originally, the stamped circles around the Merci and the stamped Merci were stamped with So Safron Craft ink and then covered with clear embossing powder. But after heating it up, the color totally disappeared! So I had to stamp over the circles and the word (thank goodness for the Stamp-a-ma-jig!!!), but the Merci was still a bit too light. So I went over it with my White Sharpie Poster-Paint marker.

Je traine un peu de la patte ce matin car la Vielle Maman ici présente est allée voir son charmant garçon qui faisait partie d'un spectacle-bénéfice dans un bar de Montréal. J'ai vraiment perdu l'habitude des ces endroits... une chance qu'il y a interdiction de fumer! J'ai quand même réussi à vous préparer une autre carte en utilisant les restants de celle d'hier. Les festons sur le côté sont les bouts que j'ai dû couper pour faire le bouquet d'hier. Rien n'est perdu! Mon seul désappointement? J'ai utilisé l'encre Craft Tellement saffran pour les cercles et le mot Merci mais je trouvais que ça faisait un peu pâle. J'ai donc couvert le tout de poudre à gaufrage claire. Mais lorsque j'ai chauffé, la couleur a disparue complètement. J'ai donc dû estamper de nouveau (vive la Stamp-a-ma-jig!!!) mais c'était encore un peu trop pâle. J'ai laissé les cercles tels quels et j'ai repassé sur le mot Merci avec mon crayon blanc Poster-Paint de Sharpie. J'aurais bien aimé pouvoir utiliser les nouvelles couleurs pastels de StazOn, mais je ne les trouve dans mon coin... Si vous connaissez un endroit où je peux me les procurer, n'hésitez pas à partager l'info! Bon dimanche!

CCC#2 Show & Tell

Saturday was the 50th birthday of our friend Steve and this is the card I came up with. I've used the colors of my CCC#2. Even though there is pink in there, I think I pulled off the masculine effect. The image of the candles is from SU's Older & Wiser stamp set (hostess level 3) and the number 50 was stamped from the Short Order Numbers. It's hard to tell from the picture, but I have used clear embossing powder to highlight the candles that are stamped directly on the cardstock, as well as some ICE Diamonds Stickles on the flames of these candles. Samedi denier, j'étais invitée au 50e anniversaire de naissance de notre ami Steve et voici la carte que je lui ai préparée. J'ai utilisé les couleurs de mon CCC #2. Même s'il y a du rose sur la carte, je crois qu'elle fait masculine. L'image des 50 chandelles provient de l'ensemble Âge et sagesse de SU (niveau 3 pour hôtesse) et le chiffre 50 est estampé avec le jeu Numéros sur le champ. C'est difficile à voir, mais j'ai utilisé de la poudre à gaufrage transparente pour rehausser les chandelles estampées directement sur la carte ainsi que du ICE Diamonds Stickles sur les flammes de ces chandelles. N'oubliez pas de jeter un coup d'oeil ci-bas pour le Show & Tell de mon CCC. Vous n'avez qu'à cliquer sur les noms pour voir les cartes complètes. Merci aux participantes!

Here is my entry for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #5. I have to say that I struggled with this one (even if it looks simple), but basically it's a pouch for a tea bag or coffee grains. I love the Pun Fun set... so versatile.

RECIPE: Stamp Set: Pun Fun (SU) - Cardstock: Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue, watercolor cardstock (SU) - Patterned Paper (Lasting Impressions) - Stampin' Write Markers (SU): Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, So Saffron - Ribbon: Close to Cocoa 1/4" gros-grain (SU - retired) - Other: Corner Rounder punch, white gel pen from Signo, Stampin' Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Crop-a-Dile (all SU).

Voici le projet que je soumets au défi couleur de Kristina Werner #5. J'avoue qu'il m'a donné du fil à retorde mais j'en suis quand même fière. Il s'agit d'une petite pochette pour cacher une poche de thé (ou plusieurs) ou des grains de café à offrir en cadeau.

A very simple card today done with the left of one of my upcoming workshop using the Card Positioning System Sketch #60.

Aujourd'hui, une petite carte toute simple inspirée du sketch #60 de Card Positioning System.

I am absolutely in love with the Tart & Tangy set from Stampin' Up! as well as their Summer Picnic Designer Series paper. The cherries were stamped with Real Red and Old Olive Stampin' Write markers. For a glazed look, I used Versamark with Clear embossing powder over the image. The sentiment was made up of two words from the Everyday Flexible Phrases and stamped with Old Olive Classic ink. I've also used Bashful Blue, Real Red and Whisper White cardstock, a bit of red Gingham ribbon and the 1 1/4", 1 3/8" and Scalloped circle punches.

Je suis en amour avec le jeu d'estampes Tart & Tangy ainsi que les beaux papiers de la série Design Pique nique estival de Stampin' Up! Les cerises sont estampées avec les marqueurs Stampin' Write Vraiment rouge et Vert olive. Pour un look glacé, j'ai enduit mon image d'encre Versamark et de la poudre claire, puis j'ai chauffé avec un pistolet chauffant. Les mots proviennent du jeu Everyday Flexible Phrases (qui existe également en français -- Phrases flexibles de tous les jours) et estampés avec l'encre Classic Vert olive. Les cartons utilisés sont Bleu timide, Vraiment rouge et Murmure blanc. Un petit ruban Vichy rouge vient agrémenter la bande de papiers à motifs. Here's my project with the 1st CC. I got this box as a gift from my good friend Diane. In it was a Scrap-O-Dex ready to decorate... I wasn't ready to decorate the Scrap-O-Dex yet, but I got to the box (instead of throwing it away). I used Close to Cocoa Monochromatic DP with Whisper White cardstock for the main parts of the box. A So Saffron ribbon from the Sherbert Ribbon Originals was added. Another ribbon, the Old Olive 5/8" gros-grain adorns the top of the box. I took several chipboard flowers and leaves from the Blossoms & Basics On Board set and covered them up with Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron and Old Olive cardstock. The sentiment is stamped in Old Olive on Whisper White cardstock from the Unique en ton genre stamp set and is adorned with a frame and brads from the new Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware. Tomorrow (or later on tonight... it's late), I will post the projects of those who have submitted.

Voici mon projet pour le défi couleur de CeeCee. Dans cette boîte de carton se trouvait un Scrap-O-Dex que ma bonne amie Diane m'a rapporté de la Floride. Plutôt que de décorer le Scrap-O-Dex, je me suis amusée avec la boîte! J'ai utilisé le papier Presque Cacao des Imprimés de la série Design ainsi que le carton Murmure blanc sur les surfaces de la boîte. Un ruban Tellement Safran de la collection Sorbert ainsi qu'une boucle avec le ruban grosgrain 5/8" vert olive décore la boîte. Comme accent, j'ai utilisé des fleurs et feuilles en carton aggloméré de l'ensemble On Board Fleurs et bases et les ai recouvertes de carton Rouge rubis, Tarte au potiron, Tellement safran et Vert olive. Le sentiment est estampé en Vert olive sur un carton Murmure blanc et provient du jeu Unique en ton genre. Je l'ai glissé dans un cadre de la nouvelle trousse Hodgepodge Hardware en Argent stylisé que l'on retrouve dans le mini catalogue Occasions. Hi everyone! Trying something new here. Well, not really new because Kristina Werner does one too, and beautifully. And I have to admit that this set up is greatly inspired (read copied :-) by hers. And although I will continue to participate to her CI, I think there is room for more challenges in this blog world. So here it is: My first Color Challenge. Here's the picture from Pottery Barn that inspired me (thanks to my friend, Diane):

J'essaie quelque chose de nouveau... enfin, pas vraiment nouveau puisque Kristina Werner en fait déjà un excellent et j'avoue que je me suis inspirée fortement, voir copiée, de son défi couleur. Je continuerai de participer au sien mais je crois sincèrement qu'il y a de la place pour plusieurs défis dans ce monde du blogging créatif. Alors le voici: mon premier défi couleur!

Les couleurs Stampin' Up! en français sont: Vert olive, Presque cacao, Murmure blanc, Tellement safran, Tarte au potiron et Rouge rubis. Vous n'avez pas à inclure toutes les couleurs mais plutôt utiliser ces couleurs pour vous inspirer.

Pour participer, vous n'avez qu'à créer un projet en utilisant toutes ou certaines de ces couleurs et m'envoyer le lien à votre création dans les commentaires. ... que tout finit par s'arranger. Le soleil brille et la neige fond. On peut presque voir la piscine dans notre cour arrière.

This card was inspired by Lauren Meader's Sketch that you can find here. At first, I thought it was going to be easy since I seemed to have found my mojo. Then I started coloring the little Imaginisce bridie and everything went screwy. I'm still not 100% happy with the little birdy but decided that it's ok sometimes to just let go :-) It was also my first attempt at embossing on gros-grain ribbon. Hmmmm, let's just say that it was a challenge. I got most of the random powder out but it's a messy job, IMO.

On a different note, I finally got my passenger-side mirror fixed. After a 2-week wait and many useless trip to the garage. Let's hope my son decided to be careful (it's OK... I still love him :-)) Anyways, go play outside. It's beautiful!

L'autre embuche: le gaufrage sur le ruban grosgrain. Pas extra! J'ai réussi à enlever le plus gros de la poudre errante mais en toute franchise c'est une job salope.

Sur une note un peu plus gaie, j'ai un mirroir sur le côté du passager de ma voiture! Après 2 semaines d'attente et nombreux faux rendez-vous chez le garagiste, ma voiture est presque dans son état original (prend note, mon cher fils!) Bon, assez! Allez jouer dehors; il fait beau!

New Coloring Technqiue!

Happy beautiful sunny Sunday! Wow, recently I found out about this cool coloring technique using Stampin' Up!'s Stampin' Write markers and an Aqua Painter. I can't stop coloring. I loooooooove it! Whoever thought of this is a genius.

J'ai appris une nouvelle technique de coloriage en utilisant les marqueurs Stampin' Write et un Aqua Painter. Depuis ce temps, je ne peux m'empêcher de colorier. C'est tellement l'fun! La personne qui a pensé à cela a toute mon admiration.

I've always been a fan of Imaginisce and when I saw that paper and the coordinated stamps, I knew I had to have them! They are just too cute! The only drawback... the polymer stamps doesn't give the best impressions. I have tried different scenarios (Simply Black, Basic Brown, Chocolate Chip... with or without extra matting for more "oomph"). I ended up using Chocolate Chip Classic ink from SU, without the mat. It sorta matches the brown in the paper without going too dark. The rest of the penguins are colored in with a Blender Pen and the following colors by SU: Certainly Celery, More Mustard, Blush Blossom, Pretty in Pink, Bordering Blue and Ruby Red. The bling accents are done with Stickles in Eucalyptus, Fruit Punch and Waterfall. The cardstocks are Bazzill's Lemonade and SU's Mellow Moss and Whisper White. The ribbon is American Crafts. And for the 1st time ever, I have used my Spellbinders' Nestabilities. Woohoo! I've only got 5 sets but the rest is on order. I found out that my old Zip'eMate is perfect for them. I was about to give it away! So glad I didn't. Sometimes, it pays to be a pack rat :-) Have a great weekend, everyone!

J'ai toujours aimé la compagnie Imaginisce et lorsque j'ai vu ces papiers et estampes, j'ai complètement craqué. Ces pinguoins sont tellement mignons! Le seul inconvénient sont les estampes en polymer. J'ai essayé plusieurs couleurs d'encre et différentes façons d'estamper pour en revenir à utiliser l'encre Classic Pépite de chocolat de SU, sans coussinage. Les 2 pinguoins sont coloriés à l'aide d'un crayon-estompe et les couleurs SU suivantes: Certainement céleri, Moutarde forte, Bouton de rose, Joli rose, Presque bleu et Rouge rubis. Pour du bling, j'ai accentué avec les Stickles en Fruit Punch, Eucalyptus et Waterfall. Les cartons utilisés sont Lemonade (Bazzill) et Murmure blanc et Mousse douce (SU). Le ruban vient d'American Crafts. Et pour la 1ère fois j'utilise mes Nestabilities de Spellbinders. Woohoo! J'en ai que 5 ensembles, le reste étant en commande. Je me suis rendue compte que la machine Zip'eMate est très simple d'utilisation pour ces instruments de découpe. Je suis bien contente de l'avoir gardé! Parfois, c'est payant d'être une "ramasseuse". Bonne fin de semaine!

1. Job: My first job was at 17, in a lawyers firm as a secretary. Not a good experience since they had me do filing all day long. I quite after a month and when on to work for CBC.

2. Car: My first car I bought at 19. It was an AMC Spirit with a V-6 engine. A real bomb. I loved that car. It was a two-toned color with caramel and chocolate (my two favorites).

3. Scrapbook page: In 2001 after our trip to Hawaii. I had to use handmade embellishments and primary colors for paper since there was not much around. There were no scrapbooking store in the area. I still haven't finished the album.

4. Trip: At the age of 23 with a work colleague of mine, Maria Stinziani. We went to visit with her grandparents in St. Petersburgh, Florida. We even went to Disney World!

5. Kiss: at 14 with a boy named Jean-Claude... can't even remember his last name but the courting was 6 months-long and the relationship lasted 3 weeks!

Well, not quite. But this card is using the Summer Days Simply Scrappin' kit. I am in looooooove with those kits. Perfect for quickie cards! I have to apologize for not being very original, but my 18-year-old son had to have "unscheduled non life-threatening" surgery this afternoon... just like that! Don't worry; he's ok but in a lot of pain. All this to say that once again, the Summer Days kit came to the rescue. This time, I even added some real ribbon. Woohoo! Wild Wasabi double-stitched ribbon. Love that ribbon! Better tend to my baby :-) Talk to you tomorrow!

Enfin, pas tout à fait mais il faisait beau aujourd'hui. Et cette carte utilise la trousse Simply Scrappin' "Summer Days". J'adoooooore ces trousses. Elles dépannent lorsqu'on a pas le temps d'estamper. Je dois m'excuser pour mon manque d'originalité mais mon garçon de 18 ans a dû subir une intervention chirurgicale d'urgence cet après-midi. C'est une intervention "mineure" qui a duré 1/2 heure mais il est dans les grosses douleurs, le pauvre! Donc, la trousse est venue à mon secours encore une fois. J'ai même ajouté du ruban Allégresse wasabi à coutures doubles. Woohoo! Arrêtez-moi, quelqu'un! Bon, je vous laisse. Je dois dorloter mon grand bébé :-) A+

Today, I didn't have time to make a card so I decided to feature another one of my amazing daughter's watercolor. This time, it is of her friend Matt. For those of you who know my daughter, you will be happy to know that she has been accepted at Dawson College in the Visual Arts program. I am so proud of her. This drawing is even more amazing in person. So I hope you enjoy and I promise to have something for you tomorrow.

Pour celles qui connaissent ma fille, j'ai l'honneur de vous apprendre qu'elle a été acceptée au College Dawson au programme des Arts Visuels. Je suis très fière de ses talents. CPS #58 You & Me

When I am out of inspiration, I tend to not want to rubber stamp. So I pull out my Simply Scrappin' kits and play. That's what I did for this card. It is entirely done with the Summer Days Simply Scrappin'. I also used the Card Positioning System of this week and you can see it here. The colors are Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Wild Wasabi and Real Red.

Lorsque je manque d'inspiration, j'ai tendance à ne pas vouloir estamper. C'est alors que je m'amuse avec mes ensembles Simply Scrappin', ce que j'ai fait pour cette carte. Elle faite entièrement de papiers et de découpes de la trousse Summer Days. Ah oui, j'ai ajouté une attache parisienne de fantaisie pour du bling, évidemment! Je me suis inspirée du sketch de CPS #58 que vous trouverez ici. Les couleurs utilisées sont Murmure blanc, Tarte au potiron, Bleu timide, Allégresse wasabi et Vraiment rouge.

I'ave added more die-cuts inside the card, which we overlook most of the time.

J'ai ajoûté des découpes à l'intérieur qui est une zone qu'on oublie de décorer bien souvent.

Before I leave you, I wanted to share my 2nd swap I brought with me to exchange at the Regionals on Saturday. I used the Boho Backgrounds stamp set, Dazzling Diamonds glitter here and there, the scallop circle punch and Bravo Burgundy gros-grain ribbon. The colors are: Pretty in Pink, Bravo Burgundy, Old Olive and Very Vanilla.

Stampin' Up! Montreal Regionals

Hey there! Just a quick post before I head on off to bed. I had a great time yesterday at Stampin' Up! Regionals. It was fun to be surrounded by stampin' crazies like me for a full day. I came back with beautiful swaps and my head full of ideas!

Here's a page that we did as a make-and-take with the marvelous stamp set So Much that we received as a gift ... I just put my personal touch to it with a group photo of the INKredible Canadians and some alphabet stamping. I will post the other projects on my SU blog on Tuesday. Thanks for lookin'!

This is SUe. SUe is a creation of my friend Maman Kool-Aid. She made this adorable little doll entirely out of Stampin' Up!'s stamps, pipe cleaners and beads. Isn't it the most adorable thing you have ever seen?! You can see her other dolls here. She calls them her little fairies. I want to try my hand at it but time is not on my side. When I get around to making my own doll, I will post a list of the stamp sets used. I'm off to the Regionals tomorrow and will get back to you with an update tomorrow night. Have a great weekend!

Today, I will keep the details brief. I am a sick puppy :-( Been fighting with a cold and fever. BUT...!!! I wanted to participate into Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #3 challenge. The colors we had to use are (SU names): Orchid Opulence, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Simply Black and Whisper White. I also used the Card Positioning System Sketch #57 for inspiration.

So here's my card. It was put together literally in 15 minutes which is a huge feat for me! Let me know what you think about it!

Aujourd'hui, je m'en tiens au strick minimum puisque je combat une rhume et la fièvre. Mais il y a toujours quelques chose pour égayer nos journées... pour moi ce fut le défi que Kristina Werner nous a lancé. Son défi de couleur #3. I know it's a little late, but I would like to wish Happy Easter to everyone. I wanted to get this card uploaded earlier but it's been a weird weekend. Nevertheless, here it is:

Mieux vaut tard que jamais. J'aimerais souhaiter à toutes et à chacunes de Joyeuses Pâques. J'aurais aimé télécharger cette carte plus tôt mais ce fut un étrange weekend. Néamoins, la voici:

This card was put together with the full intention of responding to Kristina Werner's challenge but I couldn't submit in time. We needed to use those colors which are Groovy Guava, Blush Blossom, So Saffran, Wild Wasabi:

Cette carte fut réalisée avec l'intention de participer au défi de Kristina Werner, mais je n'ai pas pu soumettre à temps. Nous devions utiliser les couleurs suivantes: Goyave parfaite, Bouton de rose, Tellement Safran, Allégresse wasabi.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! (unless specified otherwise) and all stamped images are from A Good Egg set. The card base is Blush Blossom cardstock where I stamped dots to create my own brackground. The little chick is stamped with Black Staz-On on Whisper White and colored with So Saffran, More Mustard, Basic Grey, Wild Wasabi, and Only Orange Classic ink with a blender pen. Since I wanted my brads to match, I colored 2 gold brads by mixing Crystal Effects with a drop of Wild Wasabi from the re-inker bottle. I used a Fiskars template to cut out around the chick and the Giga Scalopped Oval punch from Marvy Uchida for the Wild Wasabi mat. The oval is mounted on Stampin' Dimensionals. The rest is a ribbon from the Jersey pack of ribbons, 2 pieces of cardstock - one in Groovy Guava and the other is Whisper White. I wanted to add a sentiment but everything had already been glued together. So I stamped the sentiment on a piece of vellum and tacked it behind the oval with the Vellum Adhesive Runner by Therm O Web. This is a fantastic vellum adhesive that doesn't show through, as long as you remember to apply it to your cardstock as opposed to the vellum. I hope you enjoy!

Toutes les fournitures sont de Stampin' Up! (sauf avis contraire) et toutes les images estampées sont de l'ensemble "A Good Egg". J'ai créé mon fond de carte avec des points estampé alléatoirement sur un carton Bouton de rose avec l'encre Bouton de rose également. Le petit poussin est estampé avec l'encre StazOn noire puis coloriée avec un crayon-estompe et les encres Classic suivantes: Tellement safran, Moutarde forte, Oh Orange, Grisonnant, Allégresse wasabi. Le dessin est découpé à l'aide d'un système Fiskars et effrité avec l'outil à rainures de la trousse de découpage. Le carton Allégresse wasabi qui vient doubler le dessin est poinçonné avec le Cercle à festons Giga de Marvy Uchida. Le tout est collé avec des points mousse Stampin' Dimensionals. Un ruban de couleur safran vient s'enrouler autour de morceaux de carton Murmure blanc et Goyave parfaite. J'ai ajouté 2 attaches parisiennes dorées que j'ai colorées à l'aide d'un peu de Crystal Effects et d'une goutte d'encre Allégresse wasabi. En dernier de tout, j'ai décidé de rajouter le Happy Easter en Allégresse wasabi sur du papier vélin. Je l'ai adhéré avec la colle pour vélin de Therm-O-Web. Cet adhésif est fantastique si on se souvient qu'on doit l'appliquer sur le carton et non sur le vélin. De cette façon, rien ne parait. J'espère que vous aimez. À bientôt!

They're calling for yet more snow. Quick: Get the Spring paper out! Hopefully, it'll chase the winter blues away. Tonight (or early this morning), I accomplished something I've been wanting to do for a long time: take a pretty patterned paper and use it all up to make cards.

Croirez-vous qu'on annonce encore de la neige! C'est une situation très embêtante... vite, le papier aux couleurs printanières!!! Ce soir (disons cette nuit), j'ai réussi à faire quelque chose à laquelle je songeais depuis bien longtemps: faire plusieurs cartes avec 1 papier à motifs.

I bought this one by Three bugs in a Rug last week and I couldn't wait to do something with it. I kept it simple once again... the words on the paper says it all. The card base is SU's Whisper White cardstock and then I've used both sides of the PP (the green is the reverse of the Spring words). Then I've added some ribbon lefover from my workshops (SU's Chocolate Chip satin and MayArts loopy brown satin). The flowers are Prima's in two different shades of pink and I the brads are from O'Scrap. See you soon: I'm gonna get the shovel ready!

J'ai acheté ce papier de Three Bugs in a Rug la semainde dernière avec l'idée de faire justement des cartes. Les couleurs sont tellement géniales. J'ai utilisé les deux côtés du papier réversible (c'est d'où vient le vert), sur un carton de fond Murmure blanc de SU. J'ai ajouté du ruban (satin pépite de chocolat de SU et satin avec bordures de May Arts). J'ai trouvé ces rubans dans mes restants d'ateliers (récupération!). Les fleurs sont de Prima et les attaches parisiennes à pois de O'Scrap. Bon, je vais me préparer... je sors la pelle! À bientôt!

Here's the card I made for my team swap on Wednesday night. It's very simple but because of the patterned paper, I didn't want to use too many elements. I love the bling! Bring on the bling! It makes me happy. All supplies are by Stampin' Up! The patterned paper is Spring Fling and the stamp set is A Good Egg. The saying comes from Fêtes diverses. The grosgrain ribbon, the cardstock for the card base and for the chick is So Saffron. I used the Designer Label Punch and the Horizontal Slot Punch for the saying and the ink is Mellow Moss. The egg shell is cut in two and glued unto Stampin' Dimensionals. The bling comes from the Cosmos Stampin' Glitter adhered with the Tombow Multi-purpose liquid glue.

Voici la carte que j'ai échangé avec mon équipe mercredi soir. Elle est toute simple mais parce que j'ai utilisé beaucoup de papier à motifs, je ne voulais pas trop mettre d'embellissements. Tout le matériel provient de Stampin' Up! Le papier à motifs s'appelle Folie printanière. Le jeux d'estampes sont: A Good Egg et Fêtes diverses. Le carton de fond, le ruban gros-grain et le petit poussin sont en Tellement safran. Le sentiment est poinçonné avec l'Étiquette design et la Fente horizontale. Le sentiment est étampé avec l'encre Mousse douce. Le bling nous provient du Stampin' Glitter Cosmos fins adhéré avec la colle liquide à tout usage Tombow. L'écaille de l'oeuf est montée avec des Stampin' Dimensionals pour un effet de relief. Tout simple!

I apologize for the lack of projects to show you for lack of time. My brother is doing rather poorly. Although we try to keep his spirits up, he's got a long journey ahead of him. My Dad's situation is stable, so that is a blessing. But enough about sad news. Since I don't have a something of mine to show you, I decided to show you what my amazing 16-year old daughter did:

Je m'excuse du manque de projet à vous montrer, mais le temps me manque. La situation de mon frère se complique un peu et il souffre beaucoup. Malgré tout cela, nous essayons de lui remonter le moral du mieux qu'on peut. La situation de mon père est stable et je m'accroche à tous les autres beaux moments que je puisse vivre. En voici un: ma fille de 16 ans vient de terminer ce dessin:

She drew this as a birthday present for her friend. I just finished helping her frame it. The drawing is made with lead pencil on an 8 X 10 watercolor paper. It is totally made from scratch from a small picture. You'll be able to see the pencil strokes and appreciate more by clicking on the photo. I am very proud of her talent. Way to go, Stuuph! Love ya, kiddo!

Elle a dessiné son ami pour lui remettre lors de son party de fête. Je viens tout juste de terminer l'encadrement avec elle. Le dessin est à la mine sur un papier aquarelle de 8 X 10. Il est entièrement fait à main levée à partir d'une toute petite photo. En cliquant sur la photo, vous pourrez voir les coups de crayon et apprécier davantage. Je suis très fière son talent. This project is totally CASED from Lauren Meader who does beautiful things. It consists of an Egg Box ordered online from Papertrey Ink. The box is made of beautiful and sturdy white chipboard and has an insert with 6 holes to fit eggs or like in this case fluted bags. I did buy a few of these boxes with the intention to do a workshop but alas, with my parents and my brother still in the hospitals there is just no time. Nevertheless, I wanted to show you an Easter goodie just to spark your creativity. There's always next year! I tried to be different by covering the box with Stampin' Up! patterned paper. Voici un projet que j'ai copié de Lauren Meader. Je n'ai pû m'en empêcher. Lauren fait de très belles choses! Il s'agit de la "boîte à oeufs" de Papertrey Ink que j'ai commandé par Internet. Elle est faite d'un beau carton blanc très solide avec un plateau amovible sur lequel se trouve 6 trous assez large pour retenir des oeufs ou, comme c'est le cas ici, des sacs de plastique en forme de cône. Today, I dream of Paris. Paris in the spring must be a beautiful thing. I've never been to Paris but when I close my eyes I imagine sidewalk cafés buzzing with conversations about the newest fashion, up and coming artists, the latest scandal. I see beautiful trees blooming with flowers and people walking, their faces turned turned to catch the sun rays, smelling the fresh spring air. I see myself trying to capture it all while munching on my chocolatine. Dreams are nice and cheap. In the meantime, I create while I dream...

Aujourd'hui, je rêve de Paris. Le printemps à Paris doit être merveilleux. Je n'y suis jamais allée mais je ferme les yeux et je crois y être. Je vois des cafés qui s'animent de conversations sur le dernier cri de la mode, les artistes émergeant, les derniers potins et scandales. J'imagine des arbres tout en fleurs et des tas de gens qui marchent dans la rue, leur visage tourné vers le soleil humant l'air frais du printemps. Je me vois assise à grignoter ma chocolatine en essayant d'absorber tout ce que je vois. Ah, que c'est beau de rêver et ça ne coute pas cher. En attendant que le rêve devienne réalité, je crée...

My first ribbon spool (are you proud of me, SophieThé?!). These are tiny plastic pieces used storing embroidery floss or ribbons. Miss Kool-Aid does a few a those everytime she comes over and I had started one a while back. I took it out today and revived the old brown color I had on with alcohol inks from Ranger Ink. The image of the Eiffel Tower, the flowers and the gold border are from ARTchix Studio. The ribbon is from Close to my Heart.

The photos you are seing above and below are of a French dictionnary given to me by my sister-in-law 2 years ago. It is a 1924 edition of the Petit Larousse Illustré. 1924 is the year my mother was born! I love its yellowed pages, its fragile state and its stained cover.

Les photos que vous voyez ci-haut et ci-bas sont d'un dictionnaire français que ma belle-soeur m'a offert il y a deux ans. Il s'agit d'un Petit Larousse Illustré, éd. 1924, l'année où ma mère est née! J'adore les dictionnaires et celui-ci m'a charmé au plus haut degré. J'aime ses pages jaunies, sa couverture tachée, son état fragile.

That's where I got the Paris definition that you see on my ribbon spool. I hesitated a long time to cut into it but I did it! I always thought it sacrilegeous to destroy books or not care for them. But I care for this book. In fact, I love this book . But, I refuse to let it sit still while it garters dust. And now it's loving me back. It's letting me use it for art. I will continue to use it, cutting into it ever so carefully with my knife and cutting mat. Thank you, my precious!

La définition de Paris que l'on voit en fond sur ma bobine de ruban provient de ce dictionnaire. J'ai longuement hésité avant de couper dans mon dictionnaire, mais j'y suis finalement parvenue. J'ai toujours pensé qu'il était un sacrilège de maltraiter les livres. Mais je refuse de voir la poussière s'accumler sur mon beau dictionnaire qui sert de bibelot. J'en prends bien soin. Je l'adore. Et maintenant, il me rend cette affection en me laissant l'utiliser pour l'amour de l'art. Je continuerai à l'utiliser aussi souvent que je peux, en découpant minutieusement avec mon couteau et un tapis de coupe. Merci, mon beau précieux ami!

Here's a little preview of a workshop I put together for my "students". It's an Andrea Walford design and her stuff is just awesome. I am trying to work on my class schedule for late March and April and I will post a message when it's finalized. In the meantime, keep well. For those in the area, go play in the snow with your kids and friends! After all, we got lots of it... might as well use it for something fun.

Yeah... the sun.... not today! We've got some more white fluff coming down and it's coming down big time. So here's the bottom of my bikini cards. I wanted to add something since all I had going was that little piece of patterned paper and I was stomped. While talking to my good friend Johanne she suggested a tatoo. What a wonderful idea! And I knew exactly which one to use. A while back, I bought a big set of polymer stamps at Costco for dirt cheap. The dragonfly comes from that set. I believe it is from Inkadinkado (thanks SophieThé). I wanted my stamped image to look like a real tatoo...no clear lines. So I stamped on a really hard surfaces and it turned out exactly how I wanted it. From upclose, it actually looks like the ink went into the skin pigment, hehe. I've also added some Crystal Stickles to the flowers and Vintage Photo ink from Ranger Ink around the card for dimension.

Ouais, on ne voit pas beaucoup le soleil aujourd'hui. La neige nous tombe dessus sans arrêt.

Voici le reste de mon bikini. C'est un peu plus difficile d'ajouter de la décoration à des... fesses. En jasant avec ma chum Jo, elle m'a suggéré un tatoo. Quelle bonne idée! Et je savais exactement quelle estampe utiliser. Chez Costco, il y a un bon bout de temps de cela, on vendait un jeu d'estampes multiples pour toute occasion. La libellule fait partie de cet ensemble et je crois que la marque était Inkadinkado (merci, SophieThé). J'ai estampé sur une surface dure pour imiter un vrai tatoo. On dirait vraiment que l'encre a pénétré dans les pores de peau. J'ai également ajouté un peu de bling avec du Stickles crystal et un peu d'encre Vintage Photo de Ranger Ink sur le pourtour de la carte. Merci et bonne journée!

Since they are forcasting more snow this week, I got nostalgic... dreaming of the beach, the sound of the crashing waves, the suntan lotion, the Mojitos! Yeah, then I woke up and knew I had to get it out of my system. I saw this idea somewhere (don't remember where. I apologize for that person) and I decided to try my hand at it. I made myself a template in chipboard and traced it on SU's Sahara Sand for the card base. The floral paper from The Paper Patch is an old one I had in my stash reserved for my Hawaii scrapbook. I've added some stickles in the middle of the flowers (hard to see it) and used SU's new ribbon slide for the clasp in the middle with some white grosgrain ribbon.

On annonce encore de la foutue neige cette semaine et j'avoue que je me verrais bien les orteils dans le sable! J'ai vu cette carte sur l'internet à quelque part (je m'excuse de ne pas avoir relevé le nom) et comme cela allait avec mon humeur de la soirée, j'ai décidé de la reproduire. J'ai découpé le fond de la carte dans du carton Sable du sahara de SU et le papier à motifs du bikini est de The Paper Patch. J'ai ajouté du Stickles sur certaines parties des fleurs et un glissoire en fleur pour ruban avec du ruban gros-grain Murmure blanc.

The shell used for the necklace was picked up in Varadero, Cuba, during our trip there in 2004. I added some hemp cord and a few mini glue dots to hold everything in place. I know there was a bottom image and I will try to reproduce and make another card sometime this week.

Le coquillage du collier a été ramassé à Varadero, Cuba, lors de notre voyage en 2004. J'y ai ajouté un peu de corde de chanvre et quelques points de colle pour solidifier. Je me souviens d'avoir vu le bas du bikini et je tenterai de la reproduire pour une autre carte.

I wrote a quick sentiment inside. Now all I need is to find a friend who is going to the beach to give it to!

J'ai écrit un sentiment à l'intérieur à la main avec un crayon feutre Simplement noir. Maintenant, je dois trouver une personne qui part en vacances dans le Sud afin de la donner!

Magnetized Bookmark Tutorial *** Signet magnétique

A very small projet for today but so much fun to make! It's a magnetized bookmark. I saw this technique on Splitcoaststampers and tweeked it a bit. Here's how I did mine (all supplies from SU, unless specified otherwise):

a. On Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the flower from Time Well Spent with Basic Black classic ink.
b. Colored the image with a blender pen and Gable Green, Only Orange, Orchid Opulence classic inks. I added an outline around the petals with the clear glitter pen from Atyou Spica (manufactured by Copic)
c. Punched out the image with the Small Tag Punch.
d) Cut a 3 1/4" X 1 3/8" piece of Gable Green cardstock, scored and folded at 1 5/8" and folded it in two.
e) Glued the white tag on one side of the Gable Green tag, then cut the two top corners with a pair of scissors to match the white tag.
f) On the back of the Green Gable tag, I stamped my name and phone number. You could add another image instead.
g) Punched an opening at the top with the Horizontal Slot punch.
h) I adhered two strips of magnet tape on the inside, facing each other when closed. I found my magnet tape at a local craft store.
i) Then all you have left to do is pass a ribbon through the opening at the top. I put a little glue dot behind my front loop to secure the knot since the grosgrain ribbon as a tendency to loosen up.

Voici un petit projet très facile à réaliser mais très amusant! Il s'agit d'un signet magnétique. J'ai vu cette technique sur Splitcoaststampers mais l'ai adapté à ma façon. Voici comment je m'y suis prise (toutes les fournitures sont de Stampin' Up!, sauf indication contraire):

a) sur un carton Murmure blanc, j'ai estampé la fleur (de l'ensemble Des Moments bien passés) avec de l'encre Simplement noir;
b) l'image est coloriée avec un crayon-estompe et les encres Classic en Vraiment vert, Opulente Orchidée et Oh! Orange. J'ai également surligné le contour des pétales avec le crayon brillant transparent d'Atyou Spica (fait par Copic);
c) avec le poinçon Petite étiquette, j'ai découpé l'image de la fleur;
d) j'ai coupé un morceau de carton Vraiment vert de 3 1/4" X 1 3/8" et l'ai plié en deux;
e) l'image est collée sur un côté du morceau vert puis les coins sont coupés au ciseaux pour imiter l'étiquette blanche;
f) à l'endos de l'étiquette verte j'ai estampé mes coordonnées. Une autre image aurait également pû faire l'affaire;
g) j'ai poinçonné une ouverture au travers des deux épaisseurs avec le poinçon Fente horizontale;
h) à l'intérieur, j'ai collé deux bandes magnétiques aux deux extrémités de façon à ce qu'elles se retrouvent une en face de l'autre lorsque l'étiquette est fermée. J'ai trouvé ma bande magnétique pré-encollée chez une boutique de hobby de mon coin;
i)la dernière opération-- le ruban que j'ai noué dans la fente. J'ai également ajouté un petit point de colle à l'arrière du noeud pour le sécuriser car le ruban grosgrain à tendence à se défaire.

When you create mandalas the way I do, you stamp the same image repeatedly you cut into them to make the different layers. That leaves you with a whole bunch of incomplete pieces of the image. And since I don't like to throw anything away, I kept those bits and pieces. I decided to use them on cards. This is what I have done for this project. The whole thing is in 3-D but the picture doesn't show it much. The latticed mat is mounted on foam tape, as well as the mandala itself and the middle where the word "merci" has been stamped and embossed. The lattice work was a bit tedious but I love the result. All cardstocks are from Prism and the sentiment in the middle comes from the "Picotine" SU stamp set. Of course, the Mandala image is from Outlines Rubber Stamps. Enjoy!

Quand je fais des mandalas, je dois étamper la même image plusieurs fois et découper certaines parties de ces images. Ce qui me reste sont des images partielles que ne peux plus utiliser pour faire d'autres mandalas. Comme je déteste jeter, surtout lorsque je me suis donné la peine de colorier pendant de longues heures, j'ai décidé d'utiliser ces restes pour confectionner des cartes. C'est exactement ce que j'ai fait ici. C'est dommage puisqu'on ne voit pas le relief de la carte... tout est en 3-D: le croisé du fond, la fleur mandala et le cercle avec le mot "merci". Toutes ces parties sont montées sur des adhésifs-mousse. Les cartons utilisés sont de la compagnie Prism (d'autres morceaux que j'ai dans mes tiroirs de restes) et l'image du mot "merci" vient du jeu d'estampes de SU Picotine. Évidemment, l'estampe du mandala est de Outlines Rubber Stamps. Merci de votre visite!

I apologize for not having posted in a while but I had some family matters that required my attention. For those of you who know me personally, my brother pulled through his surgery and is out of intensive care. That's a big relief. And considering that he just underwent brain surgery that lasted 5.5 hours, I think he looks pretty darn good... swelling and bruises and all! Actually, he's quite famous now since his condition is unique and attracted a lot of attention. The surgery was video taped. I always knew you were a star, bro! He's got a long way to go, but we're all rooting for him. As for my Dad, his condition is stable but he has to be on oxygen almost all the time. I try to cheer him up as much as I can. The good news for me is that my brother and my father are 5 blocks from each other at this time, so it makes it easier for me to look after both of them. Also, lots of paperwork to deal with in my Dad's case. I will try to post as often as I can but cannot promise you a whole bunch of new stuff for the next couple of weeks. I shall do my best!

In the meantime, here is a Mandala I started at the hospital while my bro was in surgery. For some reason, coloring always seems to calm me down. The stamp is from Outlines Rubber Stamps. Colors used all by Stampin' Up!: Night of Navy, Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue, Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Pretty Pink, Cameo Coral and Ruby Red. I've added Northern Reflections embossing powder (unknown source) on some areas, as well as a bling dot from Doodlebug. The tassel was made with silver cord from last year's SU collection. The picture below is to show you that this gift I received from Geneviève is now my favorite cup of tea. I ate my way through the chocolates and the mints! This particular tea I am drinking is African Solstice that my friend Miss Kool-Aid gave me from Christmas. So soothing! Love it!

Je suis désolé du manque de messages ces derniers jours; j'ai des obligations familiales qui me préoccupent. Pour celles qui me connaissent personnellement j'aimerais vous donner quelques nouvelles. Mon frère se remet tranquillement de son opération au cerveau qui a duré 5 1/2 heures. Il est même passé des soins intensifs à une chambre normale. Malgré les contusions, l'enflure, les maux de tête et autres symptômes il a quand même bonne mine. C'est un champion, voir une vedette... eh oui, il est un phénomène médical et on s'est permis de filmer son opération. Et à travers tout cela, il garde son sens de l'humour. La convalescence sera longue mais c'est encourageant de pouvoir lui parler et rigoler quelque peu. Remets-toi vite, Alain! Quand à mon père, sa situation est stable mais il requiert maintenant l'oxygène à long terme. J'essaie de lui remonter le moral du mieux que je peux. La bonne nouvelle est que mon frère et mon père sont maintenant à 5 rues d'intervalle alors c'est beaucoup plus facile pour moi. J'espère pouvoir vous montrer quelques projets et ateliers très bientôt mais mes prochaines semaines s'avèrent très occupées avec visites et paperasses. Je vous promets de faire de mon mieux!

En attendant, je vous laisse avec une image de Mandala (ci-haut) que j'ai commencé à l'hôpital lors de l'opération de mon frère. Je trouve que le coloriage est une technique qui m'aide à me calmer. C'est très thérapeutique pour moi. L'estampe que j'ai utilisé provient de Outlines Rubber Stamps et les couleurs de SU sont les suivantes: Bleu nuit, Bleu brocart, Bleu timide, Artichaut toujours, Certainement céleri, Vert olive, Joli rose, Caméo corail et Rouge rubis. J'ai ajouté de la poudre à gaufrage Northern Reflections (source inconnue) sur certaines parties. Le gland est confectionnée à partir de la corde argent de SU de l'an passé.

La 2e photo est pour vous montrer un cadeau qui s'est transformé. Ma copine Geneviève m'a offert cette tasse remplie de chocolats et menthes. Je me suis gavée jusqu'à en voir le fond et elle est maintenant devenue ma tasse préférée pour boire le thé. Le thé que vous voyez dans la photo se nomme "African Solstice" et m'a été offert par ma copine Miss Kool-Aid pour Noël. C'est un thé qui possède une arôme et un goût calmants. J'adore!

My, my, my... am I ever spoiled?! The gestures of friendship just don't stop. I am not complaining! But my friends are just amazing (did I ever say that?!). Here's a Valentine ATC that my friend SophieThé did for me (Miss Kool-Aid for those who know her blog). I loooooooove the colors. And the ribbon is a reminder that I need to go for a check-up... yeah, we always seem to put off the most important things in life, like our health.

Oh, about the title? Yeah, my bro-in-law is in town and I used him to hold the heart in place so I could take a picture in good lighting... he kept "jiggling" it.

Les gestes chaleureux de mes amies me sont tellement précieux. Mon amie SophieThé (Miss Kool-Aid pour les intimes) m'a donné ce beau joli coeur sous forme de CAE (carte d'artiste échangeable) pour la St-Valentin. J'adore les couleurs et la composition. Elle est tellement créative! Le ruban est pour me rappeler qu'il est temps que je prenne rendez-vous chez le médecin. On oublie souvent de prendre soin des choses les plus importantes dans la vie, comme notre santé.

Au sujet du titre? Oui... ne vous énervez pas les filles. Mon beau-frère Mike est en ville et je lui ai demandé de tenir le CAE pendant que je prenais une photo à la bonne lumière. Il n'arrêtait pas le grouïller.

For Valentine's Day this year, I decided to do something different. Yeah, a handmade card is always nice. But what if the card takes the shape of an ornament?! I was out running errands this weeek and came across these beautiful white glazed ceramic hearts. I was immediately inspired. So I took my Rangers Design's Alcohol Inks and colored the background. Then I stamped 3 different images with black StazON ink. Wrote a sentiment in the back with a Sharpie pen, added a ribbon and there ya have it! It took me longer to think about I wanted to write in the back than it actually took me to stain and stamp! It's a momento that they can hang up on their wall and cherish forever.

Cette année, j'ai décidé de faire mes cartes d'une façon différente. C'est bien sûr que de recevoir une carte faite de cartons et papiers est toujours plaisant... mais lorsque j'ai vu ces jolis coeurs blancs en céramique vernie, je me suis allumée! Ces coeurs sont parfaits pour recevoir de l'encre à base d'alcool de Rangers Design. J'ai estampé 3 différentes images avec de l'encre StazON noire. Le sentiment est écrit à l'arrière avec un crayon mince Sharpie et un ruban vient mettre la touche finale. Très simple à réaliser. J'ai mis plus de temps à penser à l'écriture à l'arrière que de colorier et estampé! Et c'est un souvenir que les membres de ma famille pourront conserver aussi longtemps qu'ils le veulent.

Black Magic *** Magie noire

There's been a lot of talk about that technique. Someone from a Yahoo group that I belong to sent a link to Karen Barber's blog where you'll find a few ideas and tips on the Black Magic technique. Basically, it involves stamping with pigment (or Craft for SU people) ink on black cardstock and coloring the image with coloring pencils. So I pulled out an Outlines Rubber Stamps that I've had for a few years and tried my hand at the technique. I am not completely convinced that I like this card... I even pulled out the old Gamsol after I colored it in because it was annoying me to see the pencil marks. I went over a few of the lines with the White Signo Gel Pen after I colored the big flowers because I found that the colors were not contrasting enough. I am having a hard time getting the effect I want... I will try my hands on a few other images. Maybe it's the stamp. I'll post some more later on this week. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy anyways.

Tomorrow, I will show you something I received as a gift today. My dear friend Kathy made something for my Studio that touched me. She's awesome! I have the bestest of friends, let me tell ya. I am truly blessed by the people that surround me and she is right there at the top of the list.

J'ai obtenu l'idée de cette technique suite à un message envoyé sur un des groupes Yahoo dont je suis membre. Le lien au site de Karen Barber vous donnera plus de renseignements et d'idées. Mais le principe de base est le suivant: vous estamper une image avec de l'encre à pigment (ou Craft pour les personnes qui utilisent les produits de SU) et vous colorez avec des crayons de couleur en bois. "CREATE" is the inspiration word I chose when I moved into my studio in the spring. It's a committment I made to myself: find a way to earn a living with things I CREATE. It was important to me that I be reminded of that committment everytime I walked into my "workplace". So I bought wooden letters which I just propped up against the wall. The letters were painted a dull white and it was high time I did something about that. After all, if I'm going to CREATE, I have to be inspired to do so... the white just wasn't working for me. So I went to work. I glittered, I "Stickle-d", I faux-stitched, I "button-ed" and I "ribbon-ed". This is how it turned out. It's very very colorful, in-your-face, happy and shiny. Just the way I wanted it! The papers are K&Company from an old collection which suits the color scheme of my studio. I know I went against the height rule of Decoration-101, putting them quite high. But I wanted to see the whole letters while I was sitting at my desk... after all, it's for ME!

Le mot "CREATE" (créer) est le mot d'inspiration que j'ai choisi lorsque j'ai emménagé dans mon studio au printemps. C'est un engagement que j'ai pris envers moi-même: trouver le moyen de contribuer au revenu familial avec des créations de mon cru. Je tenais à ce que ce mot soit en évidence à chaque fois que j'entre dans mon studio. Alors, j'ai acheté des lettres de bois que j'avais tout simplement juchées sur mes bacs de rangement. L'effet était bien moche puisque les lettres étaient peinturées blanches. Puisque je dois me sentir inspirée par ce mot, je me devais de les décorer. J'ai ajouté des brillants, du "Stickle", des fausses coutures, des boutons et des rubans. Et voici l'effet final: un mot coloré, brillant et joyeux. Exactement ce que je voulais! Les papiers sont d'une ancienne collection de K&Company. Je sais que je vais à l'encontre d'une des règles dondamentales de décoration intérieure en accrochant les lettres ci-haut. Mais je voulais être capable de voir toutes les lettres en entier lorsque je suis assise à mon bureau... à créer. Après tout, c'est pour MOI, non?!

I've been very productive lately and it's kinda funny since I don't have very much time for that. I guess I work well under pressure! Je me suis rendue compte que j'ai oublié de vous montrer un des projets que j'ai réalisé pour ma porte ouverte de la semaine dernière. Il s'agit d'un cône en carton aggloméré que j'ai trouvé à une boutique de mon coin (Ted's Hobby Shop pour les gens de la région). Je l'ai décoré avec du papier à motifs et des grosses perles de SU. Un peu de ruban, quelques images avec des brillants et une grosse poignée de Smarties dans un sac cello! J'en ferai un autre, mais un peu plus "poussé". Celui-ci était très simple à réaliser car il me manquait du temps.

I forgot to show you of my projects I did for the last week's Open House. It's a heavy chipboard cone that I found at a local hobby shop (Ted's Hobby Shop for the locals). I decorated it with patterned paper, big beads from the Beads Duo, ribbon, stamped flowers and "fat" glitter, all from SU. This cone holds a cello bag full of Smarties (the best part!). It was a very quick project to make; lack of time was the main driver here.

Et que fais-je je je je présentement? Je m'paye la traite!!! Oui, mesdames. Le mari s'en va pour une longue session au gym, le garçon est parti courir la galipotte et la fille a invité 10 de ses ami(e)s pour une soirée pizza-p'tites vues! Alors Maman s'est "crété" un souper au Sushi Shop, s'est versé un verre de vin et s'est enfuie dans son studio pour une soirée de bloggage! Le vin va probablement me donner un mal de tête mais ce n'est rien qu'un bon chocolat pourra guérir, n'est-ce-pas? Oui, oui.... c'est prouvé. Le chocolate guérit beaucoup de choses!

Hihihi, I am enjoying a solitary evening (husband is going for a full gym night, son is God-Knows-Where and daughter is having 10 of her friends over for pizza and movie). So when I got back from picking Steph up from school, I went to the Sushi Shop and picked up my meal, brought it home, poured a glass of white wine and I am blogging!!! Woohoo!.... oh, and listening to iTunes. Yeah, the wine will probably give me a headache but dang, it's good and I miss not drinking it. So, tonight I am indulging anyways. If I get a headache, I think chocolate will cure it. Right?! Yeah....

Voici ce que notre Geneviève m'a apporté hier soir lorsqu'elle s'est pointée pour notre réunion d'équipe. N'est-ce pas une merveilleuse idée?!

C'est bien sûr que la tasse débordait de sucreries... j'ai peut-être grugé dedans. Je ne pouvais résister. Je me dépêche de manger les menthes pour arriver aux chocolats! De plus, lorsque je me serai gavée de toutes ces belles friandises (et pris quelques livres à la taille), j'aurai une belle tasse transparente pour mon thé. Merci, Geneviève!

Isn't this a great idea?! I swear Ihave the best recruits ever!Of course the cup was full when she brought it to me. I might have dipped into it a few times today. I'm just trying to eat my way through the mints to get to the yummy chocolate! L'ordi est réparé. Un re-formattage était de mise. Quelques courriels ont été perdu mais dans l'ensemble je m'en suis bien tirée. Afin de célébrer l'heureux évènement, j'ai décidé de participer au concours "One World One Heart" (OWOH). OWOH est un rêve devenu réalité pour Lisa Oceandreamer. C'est un concours à l'échelle internationale parmi la communauté "blogue". Les artistes qui désirent y participer doivent faire "tirer" au sort un ou plusieurs objets de leur création ou des produits et matériel d'artiste. Comment devient-on éligible à ce concours? My computer is back up and running. We had to do a re-formal but luckily, I was able to salvage most of my stuff minus a few emails. So to celebrate this happy occasion I decided to participante to the "One World One Heart" (OWOH). OWOH is a blog-wide giveaway event. The original idea (from Lisa Oceandreamer) behind this was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way. Last year's event had nearly 100 participants and many connections were made because of it......friendships that are still going strong. As of now, 242 participants are registered.

To win, you need to leave a comment to this post. You have until February 13th to do so. C'est toujours une question de chocolat... / It's Always About Chocolate...

Je viens de me rendre à l'évidence que la majorité de mes projets altérés ont une association quelconque avec le chocolat! Je n'y peux rien... j'adore le chocolat! Ce que vous voyez à gauche sont des petits ascenseurs pour chocolat. On tire sur le ruban et une barre de chocolat apparaît. Génial, non?! J'ai puisé cette idée sur Splitcoaststampers.

I just realized that most of my altered projects involve chocolate one way or another. I can't help it... I'm a choc-aholic. What is showing on the left are what I've nicknamed "chocolate elevators". By pulling on the ribbon bow, you bring up a chocolate bar that is hidden inside the cardstock envelope. Nifty, huh?! I got this idea from Splitcoaststampers.

Non, je ne travaille pas pour Hershey's... c'est tout simplement que le format de leur chocolat est idéal pour ce genre de projet. Pour vous donner une petite idée du fonctionnement de cet "ascenseur", les deux côtés de l'enveloppe sont percés en haut avec le poinçon Fente horizontale. Puis on passe un ruban dans les deux fentes pour faire comme un berceau pour le chocolat. Ensuite on glisse le chocolat jusqu'au fond de l'enveloppe et on ferme le tout par une boucle. Puisque le bas du chocolat est entouré du ruban, il remonte lorsqu'on tire sur la boucle (sans avoir besoin de la détacher). C'est ni plus ni moins un système de poulie.

Here's what it looks like when we pull on the bow. No, I don't work for Hershey's; it's just that their candy bar is a good size for this kind of project because they are thin. The "pully" system is achieved by punching an opening on the top front and back of the envelope with the Horizontal Slot punch, then passing a ribbon through those opening therefore forming a cradle for the chocolate bar. The chocolate bar is then pushed all the way to the bottom of the envelope and the ribbon is tied in a bow. So when you pull on the bow, without undoing it, it lifts the chocolate bar.

L'enveloppe de gauche est confectionnée avec du carton Joli rose et la roue Whimsy en Joli rose également pour un effet ton-sur-ton. Pour la bande, j'ai utilisé le papier à motifs Bonheur fruité de la série design, un morceau de carton Pépite de chocolat et une bande Murmure blanc sur laquelle j'ai estampé une des images du jeu pour hôtesse de niveau 1 intitulé Un Peu de bonheur. J'ai colorié l'image avec les tampons encreurs et un crayon-estompe et agrémenté le tout avec une fausse couture brune. Voir le détail du coeur surélevé ci-bas.

The envelope on the left was made with Pretty in Pink cardstock and the Whimsy wheel in Pretty in Pink for a tone-on-tone effect. The band is a piece of Berry Bliss cut with deco edge scissors, a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock and a piece of Whisper White cardstock on which I have stamped an image from the A Little Bit of Happiness, which is a level 1 hostess set. I've colored the image with my Classic stamp pads and a blender pen and lined the edges with a faux-seam in brown. See details of the popped-up heart below.

L'enveloppe de droite, un peu plus complexe, est fabriquée avec du carton Rose rouge, Rose royal, Presque cacao et Murmure blanc. Le carton Rose rouge est estampé à l'encre Classic Rose rouge pour un effet ton sur ton. Le jeu d'estampes utilisé est "Time Well Spent" (version anglaise de "Des Moments bien passés"), un jeu pour hôtesse de niveau 3. Le feston en Rose royal est fait avec le poinçon Fente. Un ruban de satin Pépite de chocolat entoure la bande brune. Le sentiment est estampé en Rose rouge et les petites fleurs sont coloriées avec les crayons feutres Stampin' Write. Voir le détail de la fleur ci-bas.

The one on the right is a little bit more complex and made with Rose Red, Regal Rose, Close to Cocoa and Whisper White cardstocks. The envelope is stamped with an image from the Time Well Spent set (level 3 hostess set) with Rose Red ink. The Regal Rose scalloped edge was made with the slit punch and antiqued with Regal Rose Classic ink. A Chocolate Chip satin ribbon is knotted around the band. The sentiment, also from Time Well Spent, is stamped in Rose Red and the little flowers are colored in with the Stampin' Write markers. See below for the big flower details.

La fleur est estampée avec l'encre Classic Simplement noir et coloriée avec un crayon-estompe. Le milieu de la fleur est recouvert de Crystal Effects. J'ai tracé le contour avec l'adhésif multi-usage Tombow et saupoudré de Rondouillards essentials rouge. J'ai utilisé les plus grosses perles de l'ensemble Perles Duo en vert et en rouge pour terminer le tout. Un petit truc: en temps normal je commence à embellir au milieu et allant vers l'extérieur mais lorsqu'on ajoute du brillant, il est recommandé de le faire en premier lieu. Sinon, il aura tendance à s'agripper avec tout ce qu'il trouver sur son chemin, en l'occurence les perles vertes. J'ai dû faire un peu de ménage... c'était plus ou moins intéressant!

This flower was first stamped in Basic Black ink on Whisper White then colored in with a blender pen and ink from various ink pads. The middle is covered with Crystal Effects for a glossy accent. To add glitter to the contour of the flower, I used the Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive and sprinkled Chunky Essentials Stampin' Glitter in Red. I've also added green beads and a red one in the center. When I embellish, I usually start by the middle and work my way out, but I've discovered that in this case it's best if you add the glitter first and then the beads. Otherwise, the glitter will tend to stick to everything, i.e. underneath the beads since some of the glue was sticking out. I've had to clean up a bit... that was tedious.

Elle a utilisé de façon très créative le jeu d'estampes "Saisis la vie" de Stampin' Up!Cette carte me semble si paisible, un peu Zen. J'adore! Vous devriez aller faire un tour sur son blog. Elle a vraiment de très belles créations.

Marika Lemay has put together this beautiful card in answer to my January 16th challenge. She's used the "Embrace Life" stamp set from Stampin' Up! in a very creative way. I think it reflects tranquility; it has a Zen-ish quality to it. I love it! You should go check out her blog. She's a very talented lady.

En réponse à mon défi / Submission to my Challenge

Les préparatifs pour ma porte-ouverte de lundi vont bon train. Je prends donc une petite pause pour vous montrer la carte que j'ai faite en réponse à mon défi de jeudi dernier. J'avais déjà réalisé cette robe sur une autre carte, il y a déjà 5 ans de cela. J'ai pensé qu'en lui donnant un motif "chinois", ce serait parfait pour le défi. La robe est découpée dans du carton Brocart bleu et les motifs (du jeu Saisir la Vie) sont estampés avec de la Versamark et gaufrés avec de la poudre dorée. Puis, les fleurs ont été colorées avec un crayon Glaze noir de Sakura. Un morceau de papier vélin recouvre la robe lui donnant l'effet diaphame.

Preparations for my open-house on Monday are going strong. But I need a break, so I'm taking a few moments to show you my project for the challenge I posted last Thursday. I had done this dress on a card 5 years ago and I thought it would be perfect if I gave it an Oriental feel. The dress is cut out of Brocade Blue. The designs are stamped with Embrace Life with Versamark and embossed in gold. I then colored in the flowers with a black Glaze pen from Sakura (love those!). A piece of vellum paper covers the blue to give it a sheer look.

Voici un caméo du sac à mains. Il est gaufré et colorié de la même façon que la robe mais il y a une couche de micro-perles par dessus. Les micro-perles sont retenues par une bande adhésive de Tacky Tape. J'ai également ajouté un fil doré en guise de gance. Je trouve l'effet très élégant. J'ai confectionné le cintre à partir d'un fil de fer de calibre 24 et y ai ajouté une petit ruban bleu.

This is a close-up of the little purse. It's also embossed and colored just like the dress but I've added a layer of clear beads. What holds the beads together is a strip of Tacky Tape. I've added a gold thread to the purse for the strap. It think it looks quite elegant. I've also made the hanger from a piece of 24-gauge gold wire and added a tiny sheer blue ribbon around it.

Le cartons de fonds est un Caramel crémeux sur lequel j'ai estampé une autre image du jeu Saisir la vie, cette fois-ci en Brocart bleu. Les feuilles sont coloriées avec le crayon-gel blanc de Signo. À l'aide du ZIG Painty, j'ai ajouté une ligne dorée au contour de mon carton. Le tout est monté sur un carton Simplement noir puis sur le fond de la carte en Brocart bleu. À gauche, vous trouverez le détail de la robe sous le vélin. Bon... je retourne à mes autres projets. Bonne fin de semaine à tous et n'hésitez pas à me faire part de vos commentaires!

The background cardstock was stamped with another image from the Embrace Life set with Brocade Blue on Creamy Caramel. This time, the leaves were colored with the white Signo gel pen. I traced the outline of the piece with the ZIP Painty pen for a gold border. The whole thing is mounted on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and the card is Brocade Blue. On the left, you see the details of the dress underneath the vellum paper. Alright... my break is over. Must go back and produce some more. Have a great weekend, everyone! Défi Pause-thé / Tea Break Challenge

Voici les résultats de mon défi que j'ai lancé la semaine dernière. Il s'agissait de s'inspirer de l'ensemble de thé chinois de mon message du 17 janvier dernier.

Here are the responses I got from my challenge of last Thursday, Jan. 17th. It consisted of getting inspired by the Chinese tea set I was showing.

La première à y répondre fut Geneviève Caissiée, qui fait partie de mon équipe Stampin' Up!. Gen est une fille super et une nouvelle maman qui est experte dans le coloriage, plus précisément avec les crayons Prismacolor et le Gamsol. Ses projets sont toujours jolis et exécutés avec un soin particulier. Le message en espagnol veut dire: Profite de ta journée! Très à propos avec mon message. Gen s'est inspirée des couleurs de la théière. Génial, Gen!

The first one to reply was Geneviève Caissiée. Gen's a super chick and a brand new Mom who Gen is part of my Stampin' Up! team. She excells in coloring techniques, more precisely with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. She is very meticulous and her projects are always so beautiful. The Spanish saying means "Enjoy your Day"! Gen got inspired by the colors of the tea set. Well done, Gen!

La deuxième personne qui a relevé le défi est Kathy Vinski. Kathy est une fille super sympatique que j'ai rencontré au magasin de scrap où je travaillais. Puisque nous partageons plusieurs passions, nous sommes devenues de très bonnes amies. Kathy s'est inspirée du thème "thé". À l'aide d'un gabarit en laiton, un stylus et une table lumineuse, elle a gaufré cette jolie théière et tasse de thé pour ensuite colorier avec plusieurs tons d'encre bleue. Les détails sont soulignés avec un crayon feutre Sakura à pointe très fine et d'un stylo gel blanc. Les couleurs vives et le design ont retenu mon attention. Très bien joué, Kathy! The 2nd entry is from Kathy Vinski. Kathy is a funky lady I met through workshops at the LSS where I used to work. We quickly became very good friends, sharing many passions. Kathy took the "tea" motif and dry-embossed this cute little tea cup and pot, then gave it a wash in different hues of blue. She outlined the indentations with a very fine tip Sakura marker and a white gel pen. The colors are vibrant! and I love the design. You can check out Kathy's blog here for more of her projects.

La dernière participante, et non la moindre, n'est nulle autre que ma bonne amie Miss Kool-Aid ou, comme je l'ai surnommée... SophieThé. Eh oui, vous le devinez: elle aime le thé autant que moi! Sophie nous offre une de ces oeuvres originales en aquarelle. Quel talent! Elle a retenu le thème chinois et les couleurs de l'ensemble de thé. Allez jeter un coup d'oeil sur son blog ici. Last, but not least, is none other than my dear friend Miss Kool-Aid or, as I so affectionately nicknamed her: SophieT. Yep, she's a tea addict like me! Les micro-perles / Love the Micro Beads

Un petit aperçu de mes projets pour mon atelier de techniques de coloriage qui aura lieu mardi prochain, le 22 janvier. J'ai découvert un truc super intéressant avec les micro-perles. Pour faire un centre de fleur, il suffit de poinçonner un mini cercle dans le carton de couleur de notre choix, mettre un Mini Glue Dot en dessous, le coller au mileu de notre fleur, mettre un autre Mini Glue Dot sur le dessus et... tremper votre fleur dans les micro-perles transparentes. C'est simple, solide et aucun temps d'attente pour le séchage! Et avec les perles transparentes, on peut avoir un centre de fleur de la couleur de notre choix. Here's a sneak peak of my Coloring Technique Workshop for Tuesday, January 22nd. I just discovered a fun trick for using micro-beads as the center of a flower. All you need to do is puncha small circle out of the cardstock of your choice to match your flower, put a Mini Glue Dot to the back of it, stick it in the middle of the flower, put another Mini Glue Dot on top of that little circle and then dip the flower into the clear micro beads. It's simple, adhere well and is very quick... no drying time! And because you are using clear beads you can pretty much have the color of your choice for your flower. Défi Pause-thé / Tea Break Challenge !

Je prend une pause. Une pause-thé plus exactement puisque je ne bois pas de café. Je suis en train de faire de la recherche internet pour un de mes clients, alors pas le temps de créer présentement... après tout, il faut bien payer les factures. Je n'ai donc pas de cartes à vous montrer mais, si ça vous tente, j'ai un défi à vous lancer! Voici une photo du précieux ensemble de thé chinois que ma mère a reçu de sa grande tante en cadeau lorsqu'elle était jeune. Puisque ma mère a 82 ans, cet ensemble a plus de 60 ans au moins.

Voici mon défi: créer une carte ou un objet alteré utilisant les couleurs ou le thème chinois. Envoyez-moi vos photos ou le lien à votre blog et je les publierai. C'est le moment pour vous de briller!

I am taking a break; a tea break since I don't like coffee. I am doing some internet research for one of my customers -- one has to pay the bills, right? Therefore, I don't have time to create right now but I am challenging you. When my mother was young, she received a beautiful porcelain tea set straight from China from her great-aunt. If you are so inclined , why don't you come up with a card or an altered object using the colors or the theme of this set. Send me a photo or a link to your blog and I will publish it. It's your moment to shine!

Voici le détail de la tasse. Cet ensemble à dessert/thé date de plus de 60 ans et est en porcelaine chinoise authentique. La tasse est mince comme un feuille de papier et est peinte à la main. On peut même voir les imperfections; c'est ce qui lui donne toute sa beauté. De plus, il vient de ma mère qui m'a fait promettre de l'utiliser plus souvent qu'elle (je ne souviens pas qu'elle l'ai jamais utilisé étant donné sa fragilité). Ma raison pour me gâter? Parce que je tiens à saluer ma chère maman et parce que je le mérite! Un petit plaisir qui ne coûte pas cher. Si vous êtes curieuse en passant, je bois un bon thé vert au jasmin en feuilles.

Here is the detail of the cup. As I was saying, this tea set is over 60 years old and is authentic Chinese porcelain. The cup is paper thin and I don't use it often. The design is all hand-painted. You can even see the imperfections and that's what makes this set so beautiful. And it comes from my mother (who has never used it because she was too afraid to break it). When she gave it to me, she made me promise to use it. My reason for treating myself to this break? None other than to thank my Mom and because I deserve it. BTW, in case you are curious, I am drinking Jasmine Green Tea that I brewed from real tea leaves.

Obsession, quand tu me calmes *** Stress Reliever

Ce message est très différent de mes autres, mais je désire partager avec vous mon état d'âme. Lorsque je vis une grande période de stress,j'accroche bien souvent sur une pièce de musique qui me fait oublier pendant quelques instants la source de mon stress. Voici mon obsession de l'heure - une "tounne" de Depeche Mode intitulée "Higher Love":

This post is very different and not related to crafting but nevertheless, I wanted to share this with you. When I'm stressed out (like now), I often become obsessed with a song or a band. I listen to this song and it soothes me, the mood of it lifts my spirit - it's a song by Depeche Mode called "Higher Love":

Mon fils m'a offert ce DVD pour Noël mais je n'ai jamais vraiment pris la peine de le "regarder", mais plutôt de l'entendre lorsque je préparais mes projets. Cette chanson m'a complètement accrochée. C'est le début de leur spectacle de la tournée "Devotional" en '93. Cliquez sur le video pour l'écouter... le début est un peu lent, mais patientez. Ça vaut le coût! Ce n'est pas au goût de tous, mais cette chanson est définitivement parmi mes tops de 2008!

My son gave me this whole DVD for Christmas but I didn't really have time to "watch it", rather I listened to it while I was preparing projects. But this song totally floored me. It's the opening of their Devotional tour back in '93. Anyways, I hope you enjoy. Just click on the video to listen. It's not everyone's taste but it definitely is on my top list for 2008!
